The Clinton ladies' Rifle
Club was organized in September
1940. The meetings have always
dr been held in the game room of the
Ellwood Epps Sport Store, now
owned by Eric and Marj Collins.
The Club has been very fortunate
in having such comfortable
facilities 'and the use of a most
excellent indoor range. Certainly
the Club would have never -bee
• started et have survived without
the unfailing interest; generosity
and patient support of both
Ellwood and Isabel Epps and this
has been continued by Eric and
Marj. Two of the, original
members, Isabel Epps and
Genevieve Allen were made
honorary methbers recently after
25 years in the Club and Marian
McCann received a spoon in 1974
marking her 20th year as n
member. The membership has
been limited. to 16 members and
there liasrusually been a waiting
list. During the years that the
RCAF Station was active We had
many members from 4dastral
Park and there have also been
members from Goderielt,
Holtnesville end Londesboro as
well as Cilat00. . • ,
Most of the members have
obtained hunting licenses and
have enjoyed shooting various
types of game. Several have also
won numerous prizes in local
shooting matches. All the
members have earned their pins
and crests, and six have "alined
their Silver Expert Shields -
Genevieve Allen, Marjorie •
-Dobson, Anne Mitchell, Karen
Scruton, Elaine Pratt and Joyce
Cook.
The past two years there have
been interclub shoots with the
Kincardine Ladies' Rife Club,
which has added an • interesting
new dimension to our activities.
The Club members have entered
•'floats in -Winter Carnival parades
and i 1974 won lst prize with
*hely Snow' White and the Seven
Dwarfs. Over the past 25 years
the Ladies -Rifle Club has -played
a very important part in the
recreational life- of the com-
munity.
