In 1882 the late George Levis began a Massey Harris Implement business in the building
now occupied by Levis Contracting Co. Ltd. at 26 Isaac Street.

On March NM, 1899 Mr. Levis received a_delivery of Massey Harris implements. John
Levis' grandfather, Geo. Lavis-anditis father, Bart Lavis are shown in a buggy in the
fore:aMind.

Pallingtooeth for the municipal elections and also as a car license isstoingoffice.
Mt. 'George Levis, assisted by his son Bart Contiroiegt, the implement business and also
started the General Meters Chevrolet car agenCy4. to 1917 Mr. George Lavis died and Mr.
Bart Lavis gave up the implement agency * few years later but continued the car business
,using,thebuilding at 26 Isaac St. as a garageandrepair shop. In 1930 Bart Lavis changed his
car agency from Chevrolet to Oryster 4fidattlinated en the car business until 1938.
In 1938 Bart and hit son% CtkOrge and John started the sand and gravel business using this
building as their matzhinery,,opir shop.
The old Jabez Rends S. blacksmith shop (beside 24 Isaac St.i was purchased and torn
down'to make Ossible The canstruction of an office in 1952.
Mr* Batt, Itavisdiediii 1932 and George and John had the business name changed to Lavis
COOltaCtIO0 to. Ltd. Masphalt paving plant was purchased sothat paved streets and roads
coutdbtcom, a reality in Alt area. Th. MIMI of Clinton main streett were reconstructed
