The steering committee

of a district health council for

Ministry of Health on the
recommendation of the

general in its outlook, avoiding
specifics that will be issued by
the ministry at a later time.
Dr. Mills said, however, that
talks on this concept for the
area have already bedh in-
itiated. He explained that the
geog-raphic ..:.boundaries
suggested but not yet approved
would encompass Huron -Perth
counties.
Dr. Mills cautioned that the
council would not be only an
advisory group, but would
eventually have legislated
authority. -
"The hospital boards will
stay but they will be tempered
by district health council
decisions," he said.
He quoted a remark by

Community planning study
grants totalling $96,395 have'
been allocated, to 28 Ontario

announced recently.
The 'grants ,are designed to
assist mtnnicipalities in
preparing or bringing official
plans and, zoning bylaws up to
an acceptable level.

Earl Shapter, clerk -treasurer of Henkali,
has decided it's time fora chane.
Mr. Shapter resigned this week from the
position he has held since November 1973.
Before comjng to Hensall, he worked
eight years in a municipality 1t W til
Huntsvilleas clerk -treasurer.
At the age of 56, Mr. Shapter said: That
he's had enough. "The village should get a
younger fellow in, it's getting a little too
much for me."
"It's too much for one person because of
all the new things coming out," he said.
Before working as clerk-treasuret. he
was a credit manager for a number of
years in Toronto.
"It's more ' hectic than this because
everything is finance now, everyone is
involved in buying on time," he said and
added that no one is concerned with telling,
people about the dangers of over -spending,
he said.
Mr. Shapter said he diked his job because
"it's nice meeting the people, I'm at home
meeting ; people because my dad was a
minister andl got used to meeting people." .-.. ,

Mr. Shapter said he'll`" retire sometime
this year, but it may take quite a while to
get someone to replace him.
'He said he won't be looking for a ft -
time job, but he said: "I'm not jusvgoing to
sit down and let the world go by."
"I ,haven't thought thatfar ahead, I'm
taking one step at a time, there's no rush"

do.
Mr. Shapter said he may return to
university and get„his doctorate in
philosophy from the University of Chicago
where he first graduated with a BA in
philosophy. '
He said he may stmt working on his
'thesis. - A
One of his hobbies is singing. He said he
used to sing on radio. and he attended the
Royal' Conservatory in Toronto, adding
"My hobby is music, •I sing. I like opera
most of all, that's bread and milk to me."
When he retires perhaps he'll have more
time to write•a few songs, he suggested.
