The puldanee heads of the
fiveifecondary schools inDuron
County met with the education
committee of the Huron board
of education Monday night to
discuss mutual problems,
In beginning of • the
discussion, director • of
education D.a. Cochrane said
there is sometimes a misun-
derstanding or difference of
opinion on what guidance really
is.
Gore Smith of Central Huron
said, "about 75 percent of my
time is spent in handing out
information, j seer yself as the
students' advocate or lawyer
against the system."
On the topic of guidance
information, Jack Scaman of
Goderich'' commented, "The
chances of misinformation are
very slight. The problem is
wheel students only hear what
they want to hear."
Jack Kopas --of Wingham
asked the trustees, "Do You
think guidance 'counsellors
shoald become more visible."

Improved mail service for
the residents of Clinton and
Goderich is the aim of a new
system of highway delivery to
the two towns from the district
distribution centre at London
Post Office, the post office
says.
In effect on
basis for about
system has
established as
policy.
Under the old system, the
truck ct5 ttaining mail for
Clinton and Goderich left
Lone at • 1 a.m. This early
start meant that mail posted in
London would get next day
delivery but mail coming into
London after midnight for
forwarding to the Clinton area
would not go out until the next
morning.
The 11 a.m. truck remains in
operation but a second service
has been added. A truck,,
leaving London at 7 a.m., goes
first to Stratford pd..then on to
Clinton and ' Gtld"erich com-
pleting its run in mid-
afternoon. This allows time for
sorting into lock boxes for
pickup about 4 p.m. In effect,
• the two towns are getting two
mail deliveries per day and
next day service from most
points in Canada. -
Goderich Postmaster M.T.
Farnsworth has already ex-
pressed his pleasure with the
improved service he is able to
provide his customers.
