Mrs, Elev Hill presided 61r the
June meeting of the United
'Church Women and opened
with a poem "Continue with a
Grin". The worship Service,
with Group 2 in charge, had a
Father's Day theme. A hymn
was sung,: and Mrs. Aldie
Mustard . led in prayer.
Scripture was read by Mrs.
Chas. Kalbfleish and Mrs.
Sherlock Keyes read a poem "A
Walk in, the Woods with
Children and Dogs",.Mrs. Geo.
Wilson also gave readings
including "I've Got a Dad".
Mrs. AleTaylor spoke on
her experiences as the wife of a
missionary in Nigeria after
World War II. , They lived at
first uncle?very primitive
conditions, in a house with. a.
thatched roof and no elec-
tricity. Their only water supply
was river water which had to be
filtered and sterilized for
drinking. Transportation was
by bicycle or canoe, but mostly
on foot.
Their mission field coverede
wide area, so they spent most of
their time visiting the many
settlements. Each village had a
closely -knit family at-
mosphere, and the people were
very proud of anyone who went
abroad for higher education.
She told of some 'Very amusing
experiences, too.
During the business period,
they were reminded of the old-
fashioned church sen ice and
potluck supper on June 22, with
Goshen members joining them.
They are encouraged to wear
clothing which would have been
appropriate fifty years ago.
