Every musical era which we pass through produces phraseology which are generally of an endearing nature, especially when these phrases refer to the in- struments used in that musical era. The "Dixie -land" and "blues" eras were the ones which produced the most known names for instruments. For example; drums - "skins" ; trumpet - "horn"-; piano - "ivories"; trombone - "bone; saxophone - "sax" and clarinet - "liquorice stick". - Take a look at the satisfied expressions on the faces of the eight clarinetists . from your band, either they enjoy what they're doing, or that's real "liquorice": Help your band enjoy what they're doing.
