Q: Is it true Sammy. Davis,.
Jr. is sick and broke? — H.R.,
Birmingham, Mich.
A: Are you kidding? He'll
gross $4 million this year and,
except for occasional strain to
his eye, is in better health
since he, cut down on his
drinking. ' Sammy owns
$700,000 worth of stock in a
Vegas hotel, pays his staff
$30,000 a week, has five rare,
expensive cars, a wardrobe
that requires two floors in his
25 -room house, owns 1,000
feature-length films, keeps a
TV set in every room 'of his
home and thinks nothing of
dropping $3,000 on lunch for
over 50 friends.
PARIS, PAPARAZZI:
Princess Caroline of Monaco
is the latest victim of long lens
spying. The. 18 -year-old
daughter of `Princess Grace
and Prince Rainier was
photographed for the weekly
"Minute" clad only in. her bra
while doing sitting -up exer-
cises at the family's Avenue
Foch apartment. '
Q: Would you explain how
the Rosen sextuplets are
cared for? Does their mother
handle it alone? Has she other
kids? — H.W., Cleveland,
Ohio.
A: The six little Rosens
(three boys and three girls)
BY ROBIN ADAMS SLOAN
were a year old Jan. 11. They
are cared for by their British -
born, 25 -year-old mother and
three nurses. Father Colin is a
traveling salesman. The
Rosens have two other
children, Samantha, 8, and
Anthony, 6. The family lives in
Cane Town. South Africa.
Q: Is it true that Ernest
Hemingway's father also
committed suicide by shooting
himself? — G.G., Memphis,
Tenn.
A: Yes, when he was ill and
in financial trouble. Probably
the strangest aspect of that
suicide was Ernest, telling his
sister Sunny, at the time, "I'll
probably go the same way."
DONKEY IN THE DOG
HOUSE: The Democrats'
National Chairman, Robert
Strauss, is the new target of
the Gay Activists. Since it was
printed that a typically
friendly social greeting by
Texan Strauss is, "Well, if this
isn't the biggest collection of
fags I;ve ever seen in my
life!" -- Strauss has been
bombarded with an avalanche
of protests for putting down
gays and demands that the
Democratic Party make gays
active in politics.
Q: Like everyone else I'm
fascinated with Ellen Burstyn,
who was in "The Last Picture
Show" and "Alice "Doesn't
Live Here Anymore." But I
can't seem to find out any
personal details about her.
How come? — K.L., Man-
chester, N.H.
A: The actress is becoming
known as the "toughest in-
terview in town." Ms. Bur-
styn's press agents have a
lengthy list of questions .that
she absolutely will not answer
including anything about her
former husbands (three of
the r, -her age (42), her
children (one son, 13).
NO CRIMPING THEIR
STYLE: With hairdressers
the men of the hour these days_
("Shampoo" is a movie smash
and crimpers are the new Don
Juans of Hollywood) no one
was shocked the other day at
the VIP treatment accorded
Tina Sinatra's beau, Hugh
York, of the golden scissors.
Liza Minnelli had him flown to
her Mexican movie location on
a private Lear Jet just to snip
off two bothersome Minnelli
