Whatever became of Robert
Stack of the terrific show `The
Untouchables'? We haven't
seen him on tv since. — G.T.,
Edmonton, Alta.
Actor Robert Stack has over
the past few years appeared in
numerous made-for-tv movies
as well as guest spots on
several series. This season
' Stack starred in a tv-movie
called 'Adventures of the
Queen' which doubled as a•
pilot for a possible 75-76
season. The CBS movie
featured Robert Stack as the
captain 'of the `Queen' with
David Hedison (`Voyage to t e
Bottom of the Sea') as the
ship's doctor and Richard X
Slattery as the deck hand.
Producer of the 'Queen' action
tv-movie was none other than
Irwin Allen - king of the
current "disaster" films with
the award winning 'Towering
Inferno'. Los Angeles -born
Stack (Jan. 12, 1919) first
achieved international
stardom with Desilu's 'The
Untouchables' (1959), as
Chicago's Eliot Ness. In his
second series, 'The Name of
the Game' (1968-71), •he
portrayed magazine executive
Dan FarrellM,,
Whatever happened to the
series called `Genesis 1I'
which .was to be another `Star
Trek'? — N.D., Montreal, Que.
'Star Trek', starring
Montreal -born William
Shatner (Captain Kirk) and
Leonard Nimoy (pointy -eared
Mr. Spock), ran for an all too
short three seasons (1966-69)
on NBC. The good spaceship
Enterprise collected a huge
• following, explaining the
success of the hourlong
sciencefiction series has
enjoyed in rerun. Last season
'Star Trek' producer Gene
Roddenberry packaged a two-
hour tv-movie called 'Genesis
II' with Alex Cord in the lead
role with hopes for a possible
permanent spot on CBS. The
series attracted a great deal of
attention but for the reasons
decipherable only by network
executives the idea sits
somewhere on a shelf. In the
meanwhile, situation comedy
after variety format after
police drama fall by the
wayside. A cleverly produced
science fiction series would
have a ready-made audience
waiting. Your move
Hollywood!
Why did the tv station stop
showing `Khan'? — M.L.,
Winnipeg, Man.
At mid-season CBS decided
to drbp 'Planet of the Apes'. (a
combination of high budget -
$230,000 per hourlong episode
and low ratings - 49th spot) in
favour of a new 20th Century
Fox private detective series.
Actor Khigh Dhiegh (frequent
villain Wo Fat on 'Hawaii
Five -U') portrayed Khan a
clever investigator styled
after the famous Charlie
Chan. The San Francisco
Chinatdwn-based detective
solved many a crime but
continued his slow slide down
the ratings hill. After two-
airing-, the network made the
decision to "can" 'Khan' the
week of Feb. 28 - with a mere
four episodes reaching the
viewers.
Can you please tell me about
the show `Petrocelli' and the
star? — J.W., Ottawa, Ont.
No ' sooner had 'Owen
Marshall; Counsellor at Law'
removed his shingle from
ABC's front window did NBC
introduce us to another super
mouthpiece - `Petrocelli'
Barry Newman plays lawyer
Tony Petrocelli who leaves the
big city with his wife Patsy
(Susan Howard) to set up a
law practice in Small Town,
U.S.A. A native of Boston,
