The roll call for this week is: My suggestions for Achievement Day exhibit or demonstration. In the business area Sherry Duff read off the minutes of meeting IV, then Mrs. Bornath asked if anyone else was interested in joining' the Garden Club. We, discussed plans for Achievement Day, we voted Lori Harris as our com- mentator, and we also discussed the meaning of grain and staystitching. Mary Ann Heykoop demonstrated how to do staystitching. Then we all assembled our blouses for fitting, also Mrs. Bornath showed us how to do a button hole. The home assignment is to continue to work on our blouse, and also to work on our record books.— by Brenda Cardinal Local people win in draw -During and after the 1974 moose and deer season, the ministry of natural resources collected deer and moose hides from successful hunters. These hides are tanned and turned over to the native people of the. province, who in turn make jackets, gloves, etc., which are sold by them. In the past, some type of reward was given by the ministry to the persons turning in deer or moose hides. In 1974 rather than do this, a province wide draw was held in which persons turning in moose or deer hides were given a ticket on a • draw for a hand made deerskin jacket, 4, pair of deerskin gloves, a pair of mukluks, and a pair of slippers: By a strange coincidence, three of the four articles were won by people ' living in the Wingham District. The coat by Carl Weber, Mildmay; mukluk, Neil Walker, Zurich; and mitts by Gary Player, Stratford. To support this decision, the proposed con- stitution for the Club was discussed and eventually adopted. The last part of the meeting involved the election of club officials for next season.
