'1t will be the first of a series
of regular draws' to be held
every other Thursday for a
.grand prize of $100,000 and a
'variety of other cash prizes,

Lottery Corporation. Tickets

The registered name of the
lottery is'Wlntario".
Tickets for each draw will be
sold in series of 90,000: Each
series sold guarantees one
$10,000 prize, eight $1,000
prizes, and 81 $100 prizes - or
one chance per thousand to win
a prize. In addition, all ticket
holders have a chance at the
grand prize of $100,000. It is
-anticipated that 15 series will

A draw was . held at
Holmesville school for the
Bunny Rabbit cake made by
Marion Smith. The lucky,ticket
was• drawn by Tami Smith and
the rabbit was won by Mr.
Bruce Lobb with his two sons
Chris and Michael helping dad
to eat the lovely cake. The
children sold the tickets in four
days and made $110.75 for the
Bunny Bundle.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Hakkers of
Bamberg Ontario ;came to
spend a day with Mr. and Mrs.
Jake Stryker, but with the way
the weather turned out they
spent a few days.

Managing Director of the
Ontario Lottery Corporation,
said that tickets for the first
Wintario draw will go on sale
throughout the province. on
April 17,
• Through the Ministry of
Culture and Recreation, tile net
proceeds from the lottery will
be used by the_ government to
support programs for physical
fitness, sports, recreation and
culture in Ontario.
Wintario funds, said Mr.
Welch, will aid province -wide
sports activities and facilities
of all sizes. For example, funds
will assist large events such as
the Ontario Summer Games as
well as coaching clinics and
community sports facilities on
a smaller scale.
Historical and conservation
projects like Ste. Marie Among
the Hurons and Old Fort
William will also receive
assistance as will the Ontario
Heritage Foundation.
Lottery proceeds will also
help organizations like the
Ontario Arts Council to en-
courage all facets of the arts.
Development grants will be
awarded to local artists,. per-
formers, musicians and
craftsmen, as well as to
theatrical enterprises and
ethnic performing arts.
Thirty-five , Ontario
distributors have been ap-
pointed and the Ontario Lottery
Corporation is working in
concert with the distribution
network established by the
Olympic Lottery Y Crp

The two lotteries will com-
plement each other, achieving
administrative economies via
the single distribution system.

*Each distributor will develop
between 400 and SR retailers:
such as cigar 'S stores,
newsstands, gas stations, milk
stores, grocery stores and
restaurants. It Is anticipated ,
that approximately 15,000
dependent retailers will par-
ticipate in lottery ticket sales.
Mr. Pollock said that the
Ontario Lottery Corporation
hoped, within the next three
years, to be selling tickets at
the rate of $100 millionper
year, and that about $40 million
annually would then be
available to support the public
projects.
The first draw will be held in
Toronto on Thursday, May 15,
and successive draws. will be
held every other Thursday in
various townsl and cities
throughout the Province.
Mr. Pollock said that com-
munities in Ontario wishing to
have Wintario draws in their
areas would be encouraged to
contact the Ontario Lottery
Corporation: It was hoped, he
said, to coincide wherever
possible with local fairs, winter
carnivals, arts festivals and
other functions of a cultural or
recreational nature.

cessfully dispersed March,19,
for $45,535.00. Fifty-four
purebreds sold for $40,820.00 for
an average of $755.92, while 10
4 grades averaged .$471.50. The
sale -was managed by Carson'
Auction Service. Listowel
J acques Houde, Ste.
Cessaire, Quebec, was an
active bidder as he purchased
the top -priced animal of the
sale by paying $1,800 for A
