Rehabilitation Centre to
expand 1975 workshop
The 1975 program for the
Adult Rehabilitation Centre at
Dashwood will be considerably
expanded due to a recent an-
nouncement of increased
government financing. ,
Facilities and programs are
being extended to ,allow the
increase in the number of
trainees from the present 20 to
at least 35.
The Ontario government will
now provide grants of 80 per-
- cent for programs of all ARC
projects throughout the
province.
The Dashwood ARC
workshop is sponsored by the
South Huron and District
Association for the Mentally
Retarded.
Additional instructors will be
hired this year to expand the
woodworking, good grooming,
kitchen, craft and contract
programs.
Applicants are now being
considered for the wood-
working program.
Instruction in good grooming
is being carried out by Mickey
Struyke, now on LIP grant. She
is also tutoring two female
trainees in office procedure.
Mrs. Bernice Jeffrey is in
charge of the kitchen program,
also with the help of a LIP
grant. The trainees with Mrs.
Jeffery's guidance are helping
to prepare meal8 for them-
selves, staff and guests.
A number of area firms as far
away as St. Marys are making
use of the contractand craft
program. This program in-
• cludes gathering and assem-
bling components for various

The fourth meeting of
Holmesville I was held on
Monday, March 24. The
president started the meeting
with the pledge.
The roll call for this week
was, a new garment or .ac-
cessory I will need and my.
plans for the style, color and
texture so that it will fit into my
1 wardrobe. In the business area
Sherry Duff read off the
minutes of meeting three. The
club also voted that our next
week's meeting will be can-
celled.
The members discussed
achievement day.and decided
to do either a skit or a
demonstration.
Brenda Cardinal designed
the front page of the 4-14 book.
All members participated in
laying pieces of patterns on the
material, and then pinned them
on. Irene Heykoop, Mary Ann
Haykbop, and Brenda Cardinal
cut out the pieces of material.
The meeting was closed with
s -the motto. The next meeting
• will be Monday, April 7, 1975 at
Holmesville Public School. by:

Mrs. Marian Dougall through
a LIP grant is the volunteer co-
ordinator. This involves
recruiting and organizing
volunteers. The Dashwood
workshop has use of the largest
group of volunteers of any ARC
group in Ontario.
The Grand Bend Alhambra
chapter recently announced
they would assume ARC's
share of 20 percent of a new 23
passenger bus. This bus pur-
chase will allow expansion of
trainee pickup in the Seaforth
and Clinton areas.
The Alhambra group was the
first sponsor in the area of
mentally retarded projects and
the hall located south of Grand
Bend is used for the South
Huron Association's nursery
school.
The annual Flowers of Hope
campaign is now being
organized and Mrs. Whitmore
of Seaforth is the chairman.
A project by the Pep dub at Central Huron Secondary School to find the male with the sexiest
legs raised $56 for Muscular Dystrophy recently. Donny MacDonald, left, was the winner and
