I-DOLATRY PER-
SONIFIED: Why —are you
seeing the Shah of Iran all
over the place? Well, not just
because he is head of an
emerging oil -rich country but
also because the Shah spent
$8,000,000 (repeat $8 million!)
last year on personal publicity
alone. That's on himself,
nothing to do with what Iran
spent promoting itself as a
country. -
Q: Why would a New York
professional soccer team pay
nearly a'.quarter of a million
dollars for the Englishman
George Best, who hasn't
played for a couple of years
and is a playboy to boot? I
didn't -know soccer drew big
crowds in the U.S. — R.D.,
Syracuse, N.Y.
..A: The owners of the New
YorkCosrtiO§ in the North
American Soccer League hope
to boost their gate receipts
enormously by showing off
Best's undoubted playing
'talents and developing him
into a media super -star a la
'Joe Namath. Namath,
however, has been careful
never toilet his swinging life-
style interfere with his foot-
ball; Best has been known to •
miss a scheduled game en-
tirely rather than interrupt
one of his many amorous
adventures.

Q: I heard on the ABC TV
Gossip Show the other night
that Princess Lee Radziwill
neglects her kids, leaving
r them in England with her ex
while she goes gadding about
in New York. Can this be true?
— R.T., Newark, N.J.
..A: No, it's completely
wrong. Lee and her ex, Prince
"Stash" Radziwill, have an
excellent understanding about
the mutual custody and best
interests of their two children.
Their daughter, Tina, is living
happily in Manhattan with her
mother and going `to school
there. Their son, Anthony, is
completing his school term in
London as agreed upon by Lee
and "Stash."
WOMEN'S LIB: So who
says women aren't forging
ahead in films? The sister of
the Shah of Iran, Princess
Ashraf, bas had the entire
Iranian , cinema industry
turned over into her pretty
little hands. Long a ,movie
buff, now the Princess will
produce and provide financing
for movies to be made in Iran
and out. Those petrodollars
should make big box office!
QUESTION YOU NEVER
ASKED: Why is David
Susskind mad at Hollywood's
Joyce Haber? Oh, only
because gossip columnist
PAGE 3
Joyce was scheduled to ap-
pear on a recent TV special
conceived by Susskind and on
' the day of taping she failed to
show, saying she was sick.
+Who said there was no
money in crime? The
producers of 'The FBI'
television series, Warner
Bros. and Quinn Martin, are
offering nine years' worth of
the police drama series for
sale on the syndication
market. Some 234 hourlong
episodes are up for grabs.
Martin has made a business
out of tv crime - aside from
'FBI', lie has 'Cannon', 'The
Streets of San Francisco',
'The Manhunter' and 'Bar-
naby Jones'. A quick•check on
your pocket calculator will tell
you what financial bracket
Mr. Martin falls into these
days - and for years to come,
thanks to the miracle of
reruns!
Q: I read that Elvis Presley
is buying the Robert Vesco jet
plane. Doesn't sound like he is
very sick to me. —
Nashville, Tenn.
A: That story got a big play
in the press but it has since
been denied by Presley
followers. The big story is that
Elvis, 40 and overweight, may
be suffering from a serious
liver ailment. W?'ll report
more soonest`
