story that Carol Burnett and
Vicki Lawrence are really
sisters? — T.A., Edmonton,

Miss Carol Burnett, part of
'The Gary Moore Show'
family for a number of years,
was given her own show in
1967 by CBS. Like Moore, she
'wilt the success of her variety
series on a strong stock
company of comedy actors.
The Burnett 'Family' was
initially made up of second
banana specialist Harvey
Korman (formerly with 'The
Danny Kaye Show'), an-
nouncer Lyle Waggoner and
pretty Vicki Lawrence. Carol
Burnett was born in San
Antonio, Texas and attended
UCLA on a journalism
scholarship. Los Angeles -born
Vicki Lawrence also studied
it UCLA - but had never met
Vliss Burnett until she con-
tacted the talented
comedienne regarding their
-emarkable resemblance. The

audition for Carol's tV younger
sister. Miss Lawrence has

and by the age of 13 was
playing at various local social
functions. Welk and his wife,
Fern, have been wed 42 years
and have three children -
Larry, Shirley and Donna -
and countless grandchildren.
The Welks live in sunny
California where Lawrence
enjoys has favourite passtime -
