Davies, then took the chair, and expressed her ap- preciation to Mrs. Harrett for her excellent leadership. After discussion of the controversial Mustard report, it was decided that the members, working in pairs, would present a precis of each section of the book at the net meeting. It was pointed out that the members have heard speeches and_t summations, but that there was a need to study the report 'itself. Richard Robinson who assed away last Friday. Mr. and Mrs. -Charles Reid are vacationing in Florida. The UCW met in the asement of the Church ursday evening with 18 embers present. Hill. e devotion S were closed y a prayer. 4. • 4 Ont. „St. UCW raises over *12;500 The secretary's report was. read by Mrs. Harvey Hayter and roll call taken by payment of membership fees. _Mrs. Robert Webster gave the treasure's 'report. • Thank -you -notes from those receiving sick and shut-in boxes were read. There were 43 visits made to the sick and shut-in during the month of December. It was decided to take the choir bowling and a pancake supper will be held on Feb. 11 and proceeds will go to the Explorers. The meeting was closed by a thought and lunch was served by Mrs. Mervyn Hayter, Mrs. Bob Webster and Mrs. Wayne, Taylor. There will be a Sunday School Teachers meeting on Thursday evening Jan. 16 at the Church. The Orange Lodge members and their wives held their bowling party last Friday' night with 27 present and hOsted by Mr. and Mrs. Ivan McClymont. • Over '30 members and friends of the afternoon unit Of Ontario 'Street Church UCW sat down to lovely pot ludk luncheon served by Mrs. H. Jghnston and her group. • After lunch, the ladies gathered in the church parlour for the regular meeting. Mrs. Forbes, Mrs. Martin, Mrs. Glazier and Mrs. McMurray conducted the worship service, the theme being New Year's Resolutions. Mrs.',E. Crich presided for the business meeting. I INTQN N1WS.RECQRP.TWRODAY•j4NIARY-10407-164% Glazier reported for the 1974 social 'committee and reported that they had assisted at dinners, wed- dings, after funerals and had a successful coffee party. The unit also helped with the hospital cart, packing the bale, - thankoffering meetings, the bazaar and delivering and packing boxes for shut-ins at_Christmas. A loyal busy group made over $500 by making, tjuilting and selling quilts. Suggestions were made on' how to raise money in 1975 and a reminder that the unit has centennial mugs and plates for sale. Mrs. Crich closed „the meeting by repeating the Mizpah,benediction. Brucefield UCW entertained by 4-H Unit three of the Brucefield UCW met January 8th in the church auditorium. Sixteen 4H Girls from the Brucefield and Kippen 111 Clubs and their leaders Doris Cantelon and Vina Brodie provided a very interesting program. On display were articles made from previous club, 4H books and a display of their theme_"Party Ideas." Dianne Wilson and Jane Allan were the .com- mentators for the Kippen 111 41, and Ruth Beane and Sharon Brodie demonstrated how to pea a sujt-case in a hurry. The commentator for the. Brucefield 4H Clubs . was Faye Cantelon and Linda Coleman gave a place set- ting demonstration. The ladies were also told of how 4H began, meeting procedures, achievement day, and a review of previous clubs. The worship was led by Vina Brodie. and Doris Cantelon. A letter was read from Maryanne Joseph from India and a thank -you was 'read from Unit Two. The ladies of Unit Three will be catering to a banquet for the Federation of Agriculture on January 22. *The .meeting adjourned and, a delicious lunch was .served by Jean Horton and 'Eileen McGregor. ummerhill ladies need 4-H leaders The Summerhill Ladies Club met at Ali Westerhout's home for the January meeting. . Phyllis y,Tyndall opened the ,..meetingi. with a poem, "A -Happy _ Heart" followed by the Creed and the Lord's Prayer repeated in unison. The roll call, "What you wish for most in .the New Year" was answered by 22 -members. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. . Thank -you notes were received from' Olive Neal, Lucy Ellis, Wray Cornish, Percy Gibbings and the Children's Aid, also an acknowledgement of Petition sent to Frank S. MIller, minister of health. The Hall Board are holding a card party in the hall, Thursday, Jan. 23. Phyllis Tyndall asked for 2 volunteers to lead in4F,1Elub Work. Phyltis would be glad. to hear from any one in- terested on or before the Fehruary meeting, which will he held at Jean Vod- den's home. Roll call is to he a Valentine Verse. Lunch and program committee are Laura Forbes, Vera and Verna Gibbings. Ali and Peter We'sterhout entertained with slides of their trip to California, the Hawaiian Is., New Zealand and Australia. The meeting closed with singing The Queen and grace and lunch was served. W.I. learn of museum The January meeting of the Goderich Township Women's Institute was held Monday, January , 13 at Holmesville School. Roll. call, "Something Old I have at Home" was an- swered by 20 members. The president Carol Penhale presided and secretary treasurer Alice Porter read minutes of last meeting and several articles of correspondence. A canvass by mail of Goderich Township for "The Ontario Heart Fund" will be undertaken by the Institute during February.
