(photo by Frank' Phillips) MRS. M.I. SHORE Mrs. Margaret I.(Peg) Shore, Goderich,;. died '•Monday, December'10 in Victoria . Hospital, London. She was 53. The former Margaret I. Heard, she was born April 18, 1921 in Clinton to Leonard and Frances Isabella (Tasker) Heard. She was a member of St. George's Anglican Church, Goderich. Surviving are her husband, 'Albert J. Shore; one daughter, Mrs. Gary (Judy) Doak, Goderich; two sisters, Mrs. Fred - _ (Evelyn) Sandy, Ridgewood Park and Mrs. R.D. (Mildred ); CooperToronto; one brother, Frank Heard, London, and her stepmother, Mrs. Amy Heard, Clinton. Funeral service was Wed- nesday, January 1 at McCallum Funeral Home with Canon. G.G. Russell officiating. Interment was in Maitland Cemetery, Goderich. Pallbearer's were, Tom' Sandy, Bryan. Sandy, Dan Heard, Mel Blundell, Ed Jeffrey and John Schaefer. • p DAVID M. GIBQ David M. ,Gibb of R.R 6, Woodstock, and formerly of Clinton, passed away in Wood- stock General Hospital on December 25. He was 81. Ile . was born in Fifeshire, Scotland on December 7, 1893, and lived in Wingham and in -Clinton- after he came to Canada. During World War I, he was a member of the 9th Battalion of the 'Black Watch. He worked both at CFB Clinton and at the 'Sherlock Manning Piano Fac- tory. • In 1917, he married the for- mer Elizabeth M. Ritchie in Edinburgh, Scotland. She predeceased . him in May of 1973. He is survived by four sons, David of Whitechurch, Alex of Clinton, Robert of Hamilton, and Harry of RR 6 Woodstock; two daughters, -Mrs. Ted (Helen) Whitley of Wingham, and Mrs. James (Isabelle) Ed- wards of Clinton; 26 grand- children; and one sister, Mrs. Robert (Katherine) Thompson of Scotland. He- was predeceased by . one daughter, Agnes. The funeral service was held rom the Beattie Funeral Home n December 28, 1974 with ev: John Oestreicher of- ficiating. interment was in Clinton Cemetery. JASPER McBRIEN Jasper McBrien died at the Goderich ' Nursing Home December 26 at the age of 90. Born November 8, 1684. -in•- Hullett Township, he was• the son of William John and Mary Jane (Laidlaw) McBrien. A far- mer, he lived in Hullett Town- ship until 1937 when he •came to Goderich. •He was married September, 1906, in Hullett ,Township to Clare Lena Youngblut who died August 15, 1970. He was an adherent of Knox Presbyterian Church. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Gordon (Edna) Clarke, Goderich; two grandchildren, Master Sgt. Edgar Newton Kurschenski; Green Bush, Michigan and Mrs. Robert (Edna Maureen) Hinznien, Detroit; and one sister, Mrs, Beatrice Lovett, St. Catharines. Funeral and committal ser- vice was at the Stiles Funeral Home Monday, December 30 with Rev. G.L. Royal of- ficiating. Interment was in Ball's Cemetery, Auburn. grandfather, Murdo Y. McLean and 'his brother -Alan McLeali purchased the paper in 1870. Her father, the third generation editor, will continue as publisher. Mrs. White served as assistant editor for thepast 11:2 years while also actias editor- of the Brussels Post, another family-owned paper. Whtus new al Huronvietv? Shirley McClure and Debbie Flynn entertained with step• dancing numbers at Monday afternoon's activities, with old time music by Marie Flynn, Lorne Lawson, Norman Speir, Jerry Collins and Philip Regier. Helen Fisher and Morgan Dalton led singing of favourite ,carols with three numbers by the rhythm, band and the program finished by everybody joining hands for Auld Lang Syne. Local Obituary CHARLES SMALL Charles Small of Huronview - and formerly of Londesboro passed away at Huronview on January. 5, 1975. He was 90. .,. He was born in Knapton, Norfolk, England on August 21, 1884, a son of the late George and Sarah Ann Small. He resided in England, Toronto and Londesboro. He was married to the late Euphemia Reid. He is Karel Boersma, 26, shown pictured here with his wife Sharon and their four-month old son, Jeremy. They have taken up residence at the former base. Vanastra has minister_;. In what is described as a rare combination in any church, the Vanastra Christian Chti#h has its first pastor, young Karel Boersma, who is also looking after his first charge. Rev. Boersmawas ordained at the Clinton Christian Refor- med Church last Sunday, and held his inaugural service- at the Vanastra Church last Sun- day afternoon. A native of %Grand Rapids, Mibhian'1. Rev. Boersma, 26, has a 4Bachelor of Sociology, and a Master of Divinity degree from. Calvin Theclogical Seminary in Holland, Michigan. He was an assistant minister in Holland for the last 16 mon- -that and comesto the - Vanastra_... Church as . its first minister since it was a Catholic Church during the days Vanastra was a Canadian -Forces Base. Nelson -officiated.- They 'were sided by Miss ,Siksan McCann and Mr. Robert view last week that he jumped at the chance . to come to Canada when he received the call last October. • ,The biggest problem he said he had was getting a visa for' himself, his wife Sharon, and their young son, Jermy, who, is four months. In order to move to Canada, dry had to get U.S. passports and receive landed immigrant status. Rev. Boersma sees his new Vanastra charge as a challenge and he said he was looking for- ward to meeting the people of the community. "The church is open for business", he said, "and that means it's open to anybody." Starting this Sunday, the Va.nastra Church will have Sunday School at 10 a.m. with a regular worship service at 11 a.m. The Friday night 'Bible Club, which has attracted•up to 80 children in the past, will be continued at the church. - ,Rev.
