from the drab room to the attractive
children'e library.
when the new chilstren's room in the
basement was opened by the Public
Library Board for inspection. Those
who attended were delighted with the
attractive room and its excellent selec-
tion of books. The walls of the pleas-
ant' room are decorated in a color
scheme of sunshine yellow and Pale
green. The floor is, painted a brick
red, and in each of the high deep-
silled windoWs are luxuriant sword
ferns. The woodwork is stained wal-
nut, and appropriate pictures adorn the
walls. Five large framed pictures pf
historic subjects are hung also. They
were the gift of the Maple Leaf Chap-
ter, 1.0.40., some years ago when the
first children's room was ,opened.

Board, Mr. Leo Walzak, secretary, and
Rev.• B. II. Farr, Dr. R. 0. Staples
and Mrs, Joseph, .l.,emaire and Miss
Rose Aitken, the capable librarian. Tea
was served at an ettractively arranged
table, centred with a low, bouquet of
'mums and lighted tapers. Mrs. D. D.
Mooney and Mrs. B. H. Farr poured
and assisting were Mrs. Leo Walzak
and Mrs. 1'. Carey.
Baok shelves line the walls of the
room and, ate filled with 2,509' well -
elected and classified books for child-
ren from pre-schisol- age to . sixteen
