The proposed rate of one-half of one mill will mean an additional fifty cents tax annually per thousand dollars of assessment. To ' the average rate- payer atepayer this will •mean an annual tax contribution of from forty to eighty cents in support of the town's Baud. Since its inception the Blue Water Band has been organized, equipped and maintained on a basis of voluntary donations. This has meant that com- paratively few have contributed fin- ancial support while nearly everyone has shared the music and other ser- vices of the band. •Most progressive citizens agree that • a well uniformed band is an appreciable asset to our town and it is general opinion that a small tax levy is the better way to equalize its support. Elsewhere in this paper the band's annual financial re- port is presented as evidence of the financial commitments necessary to a banes of this standard. A financial statement will be published each year by the Band executive. • In answer to an irresponsible, state- ment, recently made by an aspirant to. municipal office, Gte Band executive states definitely that no member of the Blue Water Band ever has received financial remuneration in any form, in- cluding our leader, Mr. John] Huckinfs. The entire band membership are inter- ested, solely, in providing music to the best of their ability and in adding to the prestige our town.
