At the meeting �f the Town Coancil
on ,,Friday niglet Mayor Mooney' an-
nounced that he would not be et -can-
didate for themayoralty at the coming
municipal elections.
"I have held the position for three
years," he said. ' "If every member
ef the Council should hold the office
for that length of time, it would be
twenty-feureyearS before all weuld get
a chance at it.," . .
Mayor Mooney . highly . commended
the Blue Water Band for -the splendid
eutertainnient it had ptovided- for the
children on Hallowe'en. • ' •
His Worship continued: "It does
seem a pay that we have- a bunch of
hoodlums in town who . damage the
property of lone women." He hoped
, the police would lind the culprits and
take action. "I hope they are caught
and made pay •for it," declared Coun-
cillor Huckins. He added that the
band (of which he is the leader) got
as -much fun out of the Hallowe'en
party as the children, and thanked the
:Council for its conteibution. of $100.

serious injuries received en eaeeccident
OU the Blue Water Highway near Dun-
lop, about 2 o'clock en Tuesday after-
noon.. • •
Miss Mason was an occupant - of a
car owned by the Lakeside Motors and
driVen' by Miss:Alexia Solomon, coming
, to (Soderich. According to police,
the driver lost• cunt -rot on .the wet
pavement, in the rain, and the vehiele
crashed into the bridge at Dunlop.
The impact tore aveay the pillars on
the side ef, the bridge and the oc-
cupants were throWn .out of the car;
landing twenty' feet away: Alisi3 Mason,
suffering with coucussion, 'possible
feecture of the skull, and spinal in-
-juries, was removed to the hospital,
attended by Dr. J. M. Graham.
Miss Solomon escaped with - minor
injuries and was taken to her boarding
house in Goderich. ,
The eel. is a complete wreck, the
side being torn away. •
Provincial Constable James Culp in-
vestigated. •
Miss Mason's father, Mr Cecil
Mason, also is a patient in the hospital,
as the result of injuries receieed in an
autoommile accident two weeks ago
almost within a mile of the place at
which his daughter was injured.

of Ontario, 1887, known as an Act
respecting beneveleet, provident and
other societies.v.
The Goderich Musical Society wifs in
existence for a considerable period,
the late, Sheriff Reynolds being its
president for several yeers, and the
late Walter E. Kelly- for a shorter

large attendance. Mr. A. Wilkin, who
presided, thanked Mrs. Holland for
lending her benne- for the afternoon
tea; also those who helped to make it
a success. -
Mrs. McPhee reported for the sick
and shut-ins,' esking the menibers to
call on a beloved nienaher, Mr. David
McIlwain, Who has been seed:Med to
the .hospital for a long time.
Mrs. Willeiu presented a bank book
to Mem. Rhiel's infant son. . Itobert

pound box of food had been sent to

Mrs. Holland, who is on the executive
