HEALTH LEAGUE SAYS MANY
• DROWNINGS NEEDLESS
( Health League Bulletin )
Many deaths by drowning are need-
less, according -to the Health League
of Canada. It is the belief of the
League that many drowning deaths
could have been and can be prevented
-first, by the running .of no unneces-
sary risks, and, second, by the prompt_
application and long -continued use of
artificial respiration methods when ac-
cidents du actin
s.
The Health League believes that
many artificial respiral,len efforts are
discontinued too soon. It is the belief
of the Letibue ' that many drowning
victims died because 'all necessary
efforts were not made to revive them.
The League. emphasizes- that the
possibilities of artificial respiration
should be fully realized at all times,•
and in its statement -says that there
are, well -authenticated reports 'of arti-
ficial respiration tieing suecesaful after
-as many as fie hours. -

"Marketing," a weekly newspaper
for Canadian advertisers, discusses
advertising from a new but a matter-
of-fact angle when it says :
Every year more than 250,000 people
in Canada get married. To these
couples a•re born- every .year 1:30,000
live babies,
In .defiance of these vital statistics
there are advertisers who are satisfied
to advertise spasmodically ,and oc-
casionally, a splutter now and a splash
later, as the fancy takes them. • They
labor under the impression that they
are appealing to a grandstand of fans
patiently and eagerly awaiting their
turn on the stage. -They overlook the
fact that the most staple 'market is
a procession. Collectively, as a group,
a market may remain static 'in its
wants for some time, butindividually
It is changing constantly. New, blood
is constantly being injected and needs
and buying habits can alter almost
overnight.
These newcomers need ed eating in
these prodtict:s of the market place,
especially the' new and improved pro-
du('tS. They hi'ay not be interest'ecl
today; tomorrow they will be inter-
ested: The consistent advertiser who
is ready with his message to catch
their awakened- eyes gets their prior-
ity. That's why It pays to advertise
and keep on advertising. 'The Pune-
