Mrs. Robert A. Anderson., of 349
Piccadilly street, Londene whO 'died on
Tuesday, August 12th, after a brief
illness, ,Was the former Minnie Hen-
ning, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs.
William Henning of Godetich, and was
bow inthis towu. She was iu her
eightieth .year and had beenat resident
of Loudon for fifty-four years. She is
survived by her hnsbaud- and one
sister, Mrs. Jessie Smyth., of 'CalgarY.
The funeral took place at Loudon on
Thursday', with • interment in Wood-
land cemetery. Itev. Dr. John Y. Me-
Kinuon, First St. Andrew's United
church, conducted the funeral service.
Yrs. Anderson's father, William Hen-
ning, Operated a flour mill on Trafalgar

Alar V in Lawrence Sanderson (un-

iversally known as "Mike”) saw light
for ythe first tithe in Goderich in Aug -
test. 1908. Ile was educated at the Gude,
rich Collegiate and shortly after joined
the staff of the Standard Bank., After
two years' bauking he entered our
Goderich office iu 1927 and six years
later was transferred to the Toronto
otfice, where he gained further ex-
perience an accounting 'and sales.
During 1939, just prior te•the War,
when- we, 'seat' a distress signal to
Toronto for help, we were iuformed
in due course that Mike Sanderson
was coining down to, this land of tish,
dulse and scenic .1.1eatity as assistant
sales- manager. We:would like to say
to those responsible for this transfer,
no bettel: choice could have -fieceemade.•
Mike immediately fitted into our Mar-
itime way of doing business' and- has
made a host of friends iu the East.
We must -add that this same condition
applies: to bis very charming wife.
It is customary. in these pereOnatity
weite-ups to elaborate on the fatuities
of- our key men, but alas! Mike has
been neglectful in this respect, 'but
tells ms - "While there is life there is.
hope." . .

NEW FLAGPOLE
new flagpole is being erected over
the postoffice this week. George Glenn
was awarded the contract for putting
up the new pole to replace the old one
which, after many years of service,
broke about six months ago. The pole
is from the farm of W. C.. Attridge.'
