Comfort for the Invalid
We hale an air-dondition7

perfect comfort, even in the
Warmest weather, for inval-

them. When the trap is a•

good job in the development and the
marketing of farm produce throughout
Huron.
Small .,Towns Reviv ,,, g
"A number of years ago most of
these small towns were losing popul-
ation; they were deteriorating. In-'
dustries were moving to the larger
cities and centralization was strang-
ling them.' However, today there is
apparently a swing towards decentral-
ization on the part of industry. NeW
plants are being built and the smaller
towns are taking a new lease of life,
all of which makes --for a better ro
;ded way, of life in Ontario.
"The glory of Ontario is not the
great city of Toronto, but the innumer-
able small towns and cities scattered
through the 'Province, towns such as
we visited this summer in Huron. It
is encouraging that these places today
are not drying up as was once feared,
but are growing, are enterprising and
have a civic pride. Iluron county
can be proud of its towns."

were discussed.
"There is," he says, "no county is..
Canada with a ` .group of more beauti-
ful, more attractive, more thriving and
more prosperous towns than the towns
of Huron. They are wholesome, heal-
thy, God-fearing towns, with no very
rich and no slums. They are rep-
resentative of the very best in ian-
adian life.
041.1? of these towns have their Nob
Hill, where the 'best families' built
in the Victorian era huge Victorian
mansions, surrounded by generous
lawns; driveways anti noble trees. The
pioneers Must 'have been great lovera
of trees, as all of these towns have
avenues of magnificent maples and
elms. Those were the days of large
families and gracious living. In . some
of the towns there have been erected
new homes in modernistic or - semi-
modernistie style. They do not seem
to fit into the atmosphere. They look
strangely out of place.
The Proposed New Court. House
"In Goderich a new court house is
being; planned 'on the unique Square.
There is nothing like the Square in
Canada. It is in the form of a wheel.
Iii the centre is the octagonal Square
from which radiate eight streets in
every direction. Around the rim of
the Square were planted years ago
chestnut trees, which seem to thrive
along the lake front. Some of them
are as large as the largest elms. The
County Courts House in the Square has
become too small and the County
Council is -planning a new building.
We only hope that the architect will
not erect some modern structure along
the lines of that monstrosity in our
eyes of the new Ontario Hospital at
St. Thomas. This. may be all right
for New York or even our own London,
but it would not fit in with the mpre
serepe life of Goderich or Huron
county.
"Goderich boasts that it is the 'Y lost
beautiful town in Canada and we are
not one to dispute its claim. It has
the advantage over other Huron county
towns' that it is on the lake and has
the only harbor on the Canadian side
Of Lake Huron. It has along the lake
front gorgeous old homes, old trees
and old gardens. Goderich was the
centre of air training during • the .war
and as a result had quite a' boom. But
instead of a recession, as was' feared,
Goderich is growing. It is encouraging
that alr of the Huron .county towns
which for years either lost population
or stood still, are growing at the pre-
sent time. •
Should Have Monument to "Tiger"
- Dunlop—
'"There is a lot of history connected
with Goderich, as .it was the capital
of the Canada Land Co. Dr. •Durijop,
who Is the founder of Goderich, is
buried across, the Maitland River. He
was an amazing and romantic char-
atter. The tales told of him- are in-
numerable and almost fantastic. He
is part of the' lore of Huron county.
Steps should be taken by the Govern-
ment, or the County, or the Town, to
preserve . his grave. We hope some
day that a monument is erected to this
'Paul Bunyan' of Huron.
