been chilled. Serve with mayonnaise.
RAV BEET SALAD
3 cups grated raw beet
2 tablespoonfuls grated- onion
Salt and pepper
LeMoil juice or Prange dressing
Combine the raw beet and onion and
season to taste with salt and pepper.
Add enough lemon juice or French
dressing to moisten slightly, and serve
on salad greens. Serves six.

Mix sugar and water in a fairly
deep pun with a large base. 'Asad
spices and the peel after putting thecal
in a loosely tied bag. Bring all to av
rapid boil; skim '•carefully, then Ladd
lemon juice. Into this mixture place
pared and cored apples. `''sunnier gent-
ly, turning apples frequently but taking
care not to break thein.- . When apples
are clear, remove from syrup and place
011 indivjiduaL serving, dishes. 'Remove
spice bag and bail syrup until it Sheets
from the spoon. Pour it • over apple's,
and let cool. A. topping of whipped
cream' and a garnish of chopped nut-
meats or marasehina cherry adds to the
richness of this dessert.
. • TOSSEID- GREEN' SALAD
1/2 small head cauliflower
1 cup French dressing•
bunch broccoli
3- carrots
Tops of two green onions
- Six radishes
1 bunch water cress
1 , head lettuce
1, clone garlic
Clean cauliflower and separate into
•
smalltiowerets; then marinate, -in one-
half itigrFrench dressing for one llodir.
Clean broccoli, using only the flowers,
and cook in boiling (water for five„
minutes; drain and cool. .. Wiish car-
rots and cut in strips. Onions and
radishes. should .be cleaned and e
in thin slices. Rinse watercress, septir-
ate,- ,and cut off all but an inch' of
stem. Wash lettuce thoroughly. and
break into pieces. Dry all vegetabl,os
thoroughly. Rub salad bowl with (ilt
clove of garlic. Drain cauliflower and
rnix with •all other, salad ingredients
in bowl. Add remaining French dress-
ing, toss lightly and serve immediately.

MacKenzie was appointed to fill Mrs.
(Rev.) Rhoad's office. Plans were dis-

W.M1.7;. in September. Several ladies

wash lettuce, spinach, beet and radish
tops. Cook theta together,

cooled with parsley, scallions and a
little .basil are also good. Serve hot
and add a eube'of butter.
Mrs. N. Mc. says: Put cooked greens
into a' greased casserole• Pour cheese
sauce, through theta and top with hot,
browned crumbs.
Mrs. T. '.G. says: Cut three slices
bacon into pieces and partly fry. Add
three. tablespoons ,chopped onion -and
one teaspoon celery salt. Mix with the
juice of one-half lemon and stir into
