QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Q.—I Ordered °a refrigerator several
months ago and • was quoted tt certain
price. Now I have been informed --that
the price has been increased. Must I
pay the higher price?
A.—•This is a matter which does
not come under the jurisdiction of the
Wartime Prices and Trade Board. You
should consult your`solicitor.
Q.—Can you tell me why ready-
sliced loaves of bread are not obtain-
able?
• A.—Prohibition of ready -sliced loaves
was first inaugurated as a sUnplifica-
tion device. The restriction, is being
continued because this type- of loaf
requires extra wrapping and there is
a shortage in wrapper supplies.
Q.—Is it true that there has been an
increase in the maximum prices of
jams, jellies and marmalades?
A.—Yes. The Board recently per-
mitted a ten per cent. increase to .offset
the increased costs of - labor, sugar,
containers and other materials. Con -
sniper prices will not be increased until
present retail stocks are exhausted.
Q.—,Why must 'we get ti doctor's
certitate each time 'we require more
coupons for evaporated milk?
A.—The supply is so short that steps

TORONTO, April 26.—The ,organiz-
titlon of the British flood relief cam-
paign sponsored by the Government of
Ontario is now well under way. The
dates of the collection have been fixed
for May 1st to May 15th, and it will
cover clothing (including bedding,
household linens, curtains, etc.), food
and money.
A central committee has been set up
under the chairmanship of Hon. Rus-
sell T. Kelley,.Minister of Health, with
Mr. Christie A. McDonald, who organ-
ized the collection. of clothing for
Europe last Year, as the earecuti(°e direc-
tor. Local committees are being set
up throughout the Province under the
chairmanship of mayors or reeves and
with the co-operation of local organiz-
ations;. `A11 Province -wide organizations
have beeu requested to co-operate as
far as possible, notice having been
sent to their Provincial secretariesewho
'
hae been asked to notify their' con-
stituent bodies. Information and sug-
gestions are being issued to local colu,-
mittees as soon as the central com-
mittee is notified of their formation.
The initial collection of food and
clothing is to be organized through local
depots at schools, churches, tire halls,
etc., and the public is asked 'to leave
their donations at the depots and
house-to-house collections during the
closing days of the campaign will be
organized in many areas. Preliminary
sorting and, packing vii#1 be done iv

be sent to central warehouses, set up
throughout the Province by the central
committee,, for final packing—for ship-
ment to Britain. Clothes will he pres-

save shipping space- , •
It has been decided by theProlincial
Government that the campaign will
also include .monetary -.donations. The
collection will be organized by the
local comniittees and official receipts

by the- irwome tam n.thoriti(.'a"; . as
evidence of 31' deductible iteral for in-
c:.o11tc: tax_Ilurposes. The money will -he
paid into a central Provincial fund
and food will be purchased in bulk in
Ontario for shipment, to Britain.
The heed for food and clothing in
Britain is desperate and the public
is urged to support. ()ntarl.o's own
