Word has been -received by relatives
here of the death of John D. Murdoch
of Calgary, Alta., on Friday, March
28th, in his eightieth year. Mr. Mur-
doch's first wife was the former Laura
Erra.tt of Auburn. He leaves a widow,
three daughters and seven grandchild-
ren.
Mr. Wesley Bradnock has received
the contract for conveying the 'mail
from the station to Auburn postoffrce.
He commenced his duties on April 1st.
Mr. Wm. Dodd had carried the mail
for a numberof years.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Wall and
young son, of Langside, spent Tuesday
with, Mrs. Wall's .mother, Mrs. John
Arthur. .
Robt. Arthur has purchased' a- new
gravel truck.
At i meeting of the village trustees
held on Tuesday evening it -was:. de-
cided to adopt daylight saving • time,
beginning Sunday, Apri) 27th, and con-
tinuing until September 2Sth. •
Beginning next Sunday, April Gth,
and ,continuing for - -the next three
months, service 'in Knox Presbyterian
church will be at 11 a.m,

Baptist ; church, in charge of Mr,
George Raithby and Wellington Mc -
Nall. Thu meetingropened with a sing-
song with Mrs. R. J. Phillips at .the
p o. 'the Scripture, was read by
Goo. Robertson. A Bible quiz was
conducted by Wellington McNeil and a
clams was rendered by 'the Pilot
class.. dreading was given by Mrs:,
Wm. Haggitt and a Piano solo was
rendered by Evelyn Raithby, The ad-
dress was given .by Mr, Raithby. The
next meeting will be in charge of Shir-
ley and Billie Robertson.

meeting of the' W.M.S. of Knox United
church. Mrs. Sidney McClinchey ,pre-

hymf, , prayer was offered. by Mrs.
Straughan. A sore Was rendered by
Mrs. Wm. Craig and MrS. Arthur
Grange gave a reading... The offering
was received and dedicated by Rev.
H, J. Snell. The guest speaker was
Rev. 1'. ('ronhielin of Renmiller, who
showed Lantern slides and gave a lec-
ture on Chinn. where he was a mission-
ary fcri• a number., of sears. Mrs. Jas.
Woods closed the meeting with 'prayer.

McWhinney, who had been a patient
in Alexandra Hospital, (loderich, for
.,three weeks, suffering with ,bronchial
as ;thn_ xa, returned to his home on Sun-
day much improved. ,
Miss Alma Anderson, teacher at Galt,
spent the week -end at home.
Mr. Geo. Currie, of bort William,
has bee ,0 renewing acquaintances at
his former ,home at' Nile and called on
Dungannon friend last week. It is
soventeen. years since he was back .,to
these- parts. While, here he sold his
farm at Nile to Mr. Gordon 1'ollock,
Sheppardton,

mas season with two sons in Manitoba,
