A lively interest in the affairs of the town was shown in the reports given by the various committee (hair - men. ,it. M.Menzies..oxttlined the work done' by the publicity .coiumittee, and the meeting authorized the publication of 10,000 additional copies of a boo let advertising the town. Leo Walztik reported -that. the civic) committee will launch a "clean -Up, paint -up" drive in May. • A suggestion of F. E. Hibbert, re- tail merchants' committee, resulted in' the endorsat en of a motion by W. A. Hay and Geo. Parsons recommending that the Town Council pass a bylaw authorising daylight,: sating time this year in Goderich. 11. In the, previous' articles, the present condition of the Public school aceom- modatiou was outlined and the steps already taken toward; providing better accommodation were given. . In preparing plans for a new school unit, the Public School Board has had •three objectives fully iu iniiid : First, that all. the public school children in Godericlr, .shtrll have school- facilities that :are in, keeping with. the best modern educational practices; second, that all •the pupils shall 'have equal; advantages in the use of school accom- modation; third, that the cost to the taxpayers shall'be kept as low as pos- sible. With these these three basic ideas in mind, the' Board considered a number of plans formeeting -the public - school. needs. It`,vas finally decided that the best accommodation• could be provided for' all pupils at the lowest cost by building the new -.-unit 'on the Victoria School" property 'adjacent to and con- nected with the present building.
