Comparison of Costs
The decision of the Council to adopt
the system of Provincial policewet
Precipitated by the resignation of 'Con.
stable Austerberry and the difficulty
in obtaining, suitable Men for the local,
foree, coupled • with the fact that the
present members • of the -local • force
were looking for a salary increase.
It is considered likely that the Pro-
vincial .force will coesist Of four men,
the total amonnt forsalaries thus being
$7,000. The Town now pays $1,430' to
the Chief- and $1,320 to Kiel' of She two
constables, with $300 to each for .car
allowance. Relief for members of the
force on holidays, .etc., costaboutan-
other $1,000, and Uniforms* cost about
$400, The .local force. therefore costs
about $0,400,. with increases in. prospect.
The 'additional expense, therefore,
under the new system will be about
$000. plus the 'six -cents -per -mile charge
for, transportation. The town, how-
ever, will have a foutsmanforce in-
stead.of

-style by spending the night at the King

who 'ckive, freely of their time, in egiSt

mitted that arrangements were in the
making for the Bolton club. There-

had 'never been on Bolton ice before.
