The party of four were returning
to the home of Mrs. Grant in Ashfield,
oftersattending a picture show .at Kin-
cardine, when their car was struck
by the C.N.R. passenger train at the
level crossing a mile south of 'Kin-
•cardine. Johnston was driving, and
Miss Williams Was with him in the
--front seat of the car, Mrs. Grout and
her on in .the back seat.
The weather was „clear and at the
Villa where the accident occurred there
is a clear - view of the railway track.

`Engineer J. Hollertbeck, is reported to
have slated that the. automobile ap-
peared' to slow up as it approached the
crossing and he •thought it Was going
tosstop,' but it came on and ran directly'
in front of -the engine. '
Mrs. Grant and her young son were
s. killed instantly. Johnston' was taken
• back to Kincardine in.he baggage car

with phlebitis nearly three years ago

Kenzie. Of a family of seven, one
sister. Mrs. MacKenzie, and a brother,
Donald Maerharles, of LueltnoW, ,are
the•only stirvivors.

the past year, stated that money -mak-
ing ventures had included a birthday
party at the nurses'. residence in June.
Many citizens, called bringing gifts,
and a substantial sum of money. was
realized. A tag day in Julyrwas well
organized and $115.45 was collected.
