with the City Abattoir, Toronto, and

Mrs. Nellie- Potter, Nile; who spent
the past few weeks with her brother,
Mr. Abner Morris, and Mrs. Morris,
has returned to the home of her daugh-
ter, Mrs. Jim McIntyre, Nile.
Regret is felt in the passing of
Charles Whitely, of Goderieh township,
who§e wife was formerly Birdie
Durnin, daughter of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Thos. Durnin of Dungannon, and
sister of Mi. MarvieDurnin, of Crewe.
Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Comfort of St.
atharines- spent a few days recently
with tile lattcr's -brothers, Harold and
Cecil 'Blake.
A dance reception was held in Dun-
gannon Parish Hall on Tuesday even-
ingdu honor of Mr. anirMrs. -Bill Reed
(nee Lela Leggatt)'. The -grooms who
recently sold his farm at Glenn's Hill,
was married about °a month ago to
Miss Leggat, chief telephone operator
at Winghans Where they -are at present
living. An' enjoyable time, was had
with dancing to Farrier's orchestra.
At lunch time, the young couple were
invited forward and Miss Helen Ander-

was held on Monday evening of this
week at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Dave Martin, with thirty-one ,present.
The subject.of diseussion for the even-
ing was "Is reseftrch meeting farm
needs?" 'This brought over an hour's
disenssion on problems in the commun-
ity. A reading on health was given. by
Mrs. Jean Athill. Mrs. Elmer Graham
gave an interesting talk on her trip last
week to the Royal Winter Fair at Tor-
onto. Euchre was enjoyed. b§ some
Of those present. Mrs. Martin
served sandwiches, cakes and coffee.
The meeting next Monday evening will
be held at the ,home ,of Mr. .and Mrs'.

After an illness of more than a year,
Mia -s Elizabeth *Dalton, a native of
Ashfield -townshils passed away on s
November 12th at her home in Chicp.-gq,1
She as the second daughter of MT.
and° Mrs. Maurice Dalton, • a pioneer
couple of :Ashfield, and until 1931 re-
sided at the home of" her father .and
SVLIS a highly respected member of St.
Joseph's church, Kingsbridge. in that
year she joined.her sister, Miss Bridget
Dalton, in Chicago,and sine then had
made her, home there. She took an
active part in, social and religious ac-
tivities and made many friends through
her hospitality and her loyable disposi-
tion. She as a devout meniber. of
the Sacred Heart League and belonged
to the Third Order of St: Dominit.
A funeral mass was celebrated in
St. Ignatius churet, Chicago, by" Rev.
Father Lilly, with Six relatives' as

Missionary Address.— The thank -
offering service of the W.M.S. of Dun-
gannon United churn was held en
Sunday. evening. Rev. E. R. Stanway
of Brueefield,- who served fourteen
years in West China as a missionary;
°gave an impressive sermon and told
sof' the great need for Christianity in
China. The Chinese, he said,' are
found to. be Wonderful people after
gaining_ their confidence.- The speaker
began his 'work there in 1931 and for
two years attended 'a. language- School
and then .was appointed to work with
A. Chinese pastor. The dangers were
many during War slays, and he visited
villages where everything was silent
except for the -moans, of mothers_ who
had lost their sons in battle. He said
the , Chinese want Christianity , and
there is, a great and growing need
for men and women to render service
