WHAT'S, THE HURRY? •
A man took his dot and lantern into
the woods one_.night for at coon hunt.I
As he crossed a railroad right-of-way
in an isolated area, a train camel
streaking down the track. ' The hunter!
waved bis-- lantern frantically, and
when he hail- succeeded in stopping the'
train, climbed up close to theen-
gineer's cal.
"You w tuna buy a coon?" he
drawled.
• As the story • goes, the engineer's
reply was unsuitable for printing. Ile
dressed the, coon hunter down for stop- j
_ping, the... train, "just. to sell a coon,"!
(and wound up with something about
a fool.. -
"Well," the Ivan standirl,g beside the
coon dog -drawled, without a trace of
resentment, "yon needn't of got so• ex-
cited,, I ain't even caught the coon
yet." -

LOOK ... at the label pasted on the upper left-hand corner of the front
pdge of your Signal -Star. ' On it, you will find your name and THE DATE ON
WHICH YOUR •SIGNAL -STAR SUBSCRIPTION EXPIRES.
EES ... if the date on YOUR LABEL is a date previous to the one
shown in this picture -21 NOV46. If yours is a date previcats to November
21st, 1946, then YOUR SUBSCRIPTION IS IN NEED OF RENEWAL.
Fortunately, the vast Majority of Signal -Star subscriptions are paid in
advance. In fact, many are paid one year in advance, as' all subscriptions
are supposed to be. •
The Signal -Star is giving
-partecialar attention to its mailing list at the
present time in order to have all of its subscriptions paid in advance. To be
in that ctass your label should now read at least .2 NOV47 o Does yours?
very few things have adyanced in price so much as has the price or
newsprint. It is' at least: double what it was before the war. Many weekly
newspapers that were $2 a year have increased their subscription t 82.50 a
year. Many who charged 81.50 a year have been increased to $2 a year. The
Signal -Stat' has not increased its subscription price, nor does it intend to do
so if at all possible to avoid it.
HOWEVER . . . thesteadily increasing price of newsprint 'makes it
iAnphssible to'`rwntl The Signal -Star to those who are not paid in advance We
would, therefore, 'ask subscribers to give this matter their attention. Other-.
.vise, we may ['find it necessary - to delete the names of llubseribers from onr
list who are not 'paid up. Are yin, one?
