Monster Crowd at
Holiday Race Meet
Blue Again rails to Lower Track'
Reeorcl—Abse ce of the
Count Disappoints
,
About 10,000 people crowded into
Agricultural Park on Monday, setting
uif a new attendance record at the
-annual civic holiday harnessracing
meet. The previous ltigh marIS was
set last year, when some 7,000 were
preseut, People were here from a
widespread section of Western, and
even Central Ontario.
An unusually -large number of entries
failed to Anake their appearance, which
was a disappointment to the record
crowd. Many had come a considerable
distance to see ,Blue Again, world'
champion pacer, fight it but with The
Count. The Count is believed to have
taken part in a race at Hamburg, New
York, near Buffalo, on Saturday even-
ing. Since regulations require a race
horse to undergo a veterinary examin-
ation twenty-fonr hours after a race
before being allowed to cross the inter-
national bordere_it is thought this pre-
vented the appearance of The Count
here on Aloaday:' ,.

this year•all had to be in by- May 15.
Officials are considering extending this
deadline for next year's meet in order
to eliminate so many horses being
