destroyed live large trucks with their
loads of merchandise. Los's is estim-

Clifford Jenkins, Wingham, 'company
Motor mechanic, was painfully burned
on both hands and arias in an explosion
which preceded the fire. Lie was said
to have been fixing the fuel line on a
truck when gasoline dripped on the
electric light bulb he was using to
illuminate the job, and exploded.
Merchandise within the building and,
on ,the trucks had been Consigned prin-
cipally from London warehouses for
distribution ins this area. .Besides a
-new tractor the trucks contained cooked
-meats, fencing, roofing and other build-
ing materials.
Fire Spread Quickly
Clifford Jenkins; the injured man,
said he believed the fire started when
gasoline fell on the hot electric light
bulb which he was using to inspect
the engine of a truck. - Within a
minute the entire building was ablaze.
Attendants opened the huge doors_ on
either side of the depot and attempted
to' drive out the vehicles parked inside.
They were successful in saving only
two. Ben Edwards, another employee,
said the flames shot upwards to the
tarpaper roof and across tarpaulins
eevering- the trucks --at an - incredible-
speed,'
ncrediblespeed, and within a, moment it was
impossible to enter the building, which

HEAVY BUS TRAFFIC THRO'
GODERICH AT WEEK -END
-Carrying the largest number of
passengers for'u week -end along the
Bluewater ,Highway since its Windsor-
Tobermlory schedule was started about
the middle of June, the Greyhound Bus
Line ran, four buses packed to capacity
into •Goderic1.1 on Saturday afternoon.
Norinally, only one tris • travels the up
route.
Of- these four buses 'which came up,
from Windsor, two came only as far.
us Goderich, where a total -of about
sixty people got off. The two other
buses continued on to Toberraory. On
these two buses about half of the
passengers ,got off at Tobermory, while
the other half continued on the ferry
to Manitoulin Island and ,thence on
the continuation of the Greyhound route"
to- Sudbury.
On- Saturday night at Tobermory it
wils stated there were at least forty
:aUt()lllol)lleS, -Ca rryin tourists" await-
ing their turns to take the. ferry to
Manitoulin Island. I3ecallse the car
ferry can take only so many cars at a
time, some of the owners of the forty
automobiles were informed they world
have to wait at Tobermory for. about
two clays until the car ferry would be
able to catch up on its waiting list and
tribe thein to the Island.
, On Sunday night two buses -left
Tobermory en route -to Windsor. One
vvas practically filled at TObertnory,
whits the second one did not have many
passenger's until. it reached Goderich.
Eve11 then it was evident that the odd
sixty people who came. to Goderich
Saturday afternoon came for an ex-
tended visit and not just for the week-
end, since the second bus on leaving
ller'e Sunday. night was not filled to
capacity.
