Red Cross Society is appealing for
funs for the sufferers- in the Windsor
disaster area, to complete the rehab-
ilitation of stricken families. The
local officers will accept cheques' or
cash donations^ designated for the
Windsor disaster for transfer to the
division.
Death of A. C. Ferguson. --- The
funeral of the late Alexander Clarkson
Ferguson, familiarly known as'Pierre,.
took place here on Friday. Mr. Fergu-
son, son, of the late John Ferguson
and Elizabeth, Falconer Ferguson,
passed away on June 26th in St.
Joseph'a Hospital, London, after a
lengthy illness. He was in his seventy-
third year. He was born -and educated'
years sailed
in Bayfield !and for many
the Great Lakes. He is survived by
two_ brothers,_William-.. L. Ferguson,
Mayfield, and Capt. Charles Ferguson,
Detroit, Mich., .;and three sisters, Mrs.
E. Sharpe. Toronto ; Mrs. William Balk -
will, London, and Mrs. Oliver .W.
Rhynas, Bayfield. The funeral service
in Bayfield cemetery on Friday after-
naon was conducted by Rev: David
Lane, minister of Knox Presbyterian
church. • Mr. James Scott of Seaforth

picnic of the 'Sunday schools • of the
United churches of • St. Helens and
Whitechurch was held !at the lOth
bridge on Saturday afternoon, with
about 100 -in attendance. An interest-
ing programs of sports, including, a
game of softball, was enjoyed. Supper,
including a special treat of watermelon,
was served by the committee in e'harge.

The Ladies' Aid of Knox church met
in the lecture hall on Friday last for
the June meeting, with Mrs. - Alex.
Straiton presiding. Mrs. Girvin Young
and Mrs. Katharine Malpass were in
charge' of the devotional part o,1 the
meeting. Miss --Eva Somerville pleased
everyone present with' a piano solo find
Mrs. Geo. Sanderson contributed a fine
vocal number. -Plans were completed
for a ' bazaar in Mite October. The
next ...regular meeting will be in
September. '
During the vacation month of August
the pulpit of Victoria street United
church will be occupied by Rev. George
Murray, B.A., of Keene, Ont. •Mrs.
Murray will accompany her husbandd,
• occupying the parsonage. Mr. and
Dirs. Turner and daughter Grace Marie
will holiday in and about Peterborough.
Sunday morning's service at Victoria
street United church was enriched by
the singing of the solo "Open the Gates
of the Temple," by Miss Hilda Sharp
Of Windsor. John Dennis Clark
+ owler, infant son ,of Stanley Clark
Fowler and Jean Elizabeth Fowler (nee
Pitb ,ado) . received the rite of
baptism. the celebrant being the min-
ister of the church, Rev. L. H. Turner.
