This cemetery is located. in Ashfield
. tpwnship, )Huron county, about eight
Miles.- west of Luanow. 11.`he size of
the trees, which were planted' from
tune to time, give mute evidence of the
number of years that have elaipsed since
the land was first set aside as a bury-
ing ground. A- great ,deal. of work has
been done to level tiie plot. -of ground
and bring it into the condition in which
it now is, and every year those inter-
ested wh(t_;livesl close at hand gathered
at' the cemetery to cut ..the grass and
otherwise clean up aud'keep it in order'.
Lately an'addttional piece of land Was
Secured, which will be levelled and
landscaped to harmonize with the
original plot. ti
The Moving spirit in this work has
ben John MacRae Too much credit
cannot be . given hinm for his untiring
efforts to improve -this plot over a
period of many. years. He is now
absent during the winter months and
has indicated a desire to be relieved.
At their annual' meeting on June
1.8th, 1946, those present, went on
record as favoringa scheme of "per-
petual care." This will entail the
raising of a large sum of money, the
interest from which will be devoted
to the care and upkeep of the ceme-
tery. Some donations _have _already
been received and the call to those liv-
ing far away who have loved ones
buried in this plot is apparent.
