snow storm. All the men are in good
spirits, and bear up wonderfully. A
report reached ns last night that a
battle had been fought, and that Gen.
Middleton had ten .men killed and
thirty wounded. On the report
spreading, the men evinced the wild-
est enthusiasm, and although it was
about 9 o'ciock p. m., most of them
were anxious to strike tents at once,
and make a night march toward the
scene of action. I feel confident that
the 7th will give a gond aoosunt of
themselves, if we can only get within
striking distance of the rebels. Two

One of the fashonable events of 1885
took place at St. Mary's on thursday
evening last, being the marriage of
Mr. W. C. Mosorip, barrister -at law,
to Miss Maggie Hamilton, daugtet of
the late Jas. Hamilton, Esq; of

the First Presbyterian Church, being
conducted by the Rev. J. B. Scott,
brother•in-low of the groom, assisted
