Totttart4eke couolueiou of his speech he road a number of extracts from statements made by parties examined by a ppeolai committee appgrinted to take evidence upon the working of the probibitoey law. In name one of these, -after giving the audience a a1sU$e which ryas favorable to the prc*h ztory'side cf the question, be •tapped and sitid that if his opponent were reading the extract he would go no farther, but atopyhete—as that was the way the Slott Act advocates al- ways did --hat they always garbled the evidence to suit their own purpos- es. During the delivery of his epeech Mr. Moir Was repeatedly applauded, Mr. Morrow upon rising said the was very happy to have theopportun ily of replying to Mr. Moir, for that throughout all the campaigns in whiob.he bad taken part, so far, he bad never yet met a resldeat of any of the counties, who could be induced let take the platform in favor of the li- quor interest, and scarcely to occupy the chair ; that wherever he had been he bad only to contend with the hired speakers of the traffic brought from a distance, who, like Mr. Moir, took great pains at the begioniug of their addresses to eonvicce the audi- ence that they were temperanoe men and the representative*f the true tetnperauce party. He then adtninistored a severe castigation tothe previous speaker for the uncalled for and uujuetifiable charge lie had made against biro, of garbling and falsifying tbo record, completely turning the tables upon his opponent. Mr. Moir had also Paid that in his (Mr. Morrow's) first speech he had ‘said nothing, palling for reply. Mo. Morrow then gave the skeleton of his first address in which ho had proven beyond the possibility of contradiction that the record of the traffic all down the years was one of no good conferred, but resulted alone in pauperism, misery and crime, and that in spite of ell the license legis - A Wide Awake Druggist Mr. C.
