Library, Board:

It is "interesting to note that this lib-
rary building was opened to the public,
on March Qrd, 1904--jurti thirty years-
ago. • In the year 1904 the circulation of
books was 10,509, but I can find no re-
eord of how this' total was made • up.
However, in December, 1904, books
were issued as follows

In 1934 the circulation was 33,160,
and for. December, 1034, 3400. These
figures show that the library has been
making steady progress and is being used
more and. more by the citizens of the
town.
You will note that there is no mention
of children's books in the 1904 record;
evidently the few that were issued were
included tugtI& the heading, "Other
Classes." A catalogue of that date
shows that -there were approximately 300
children's books in the library:
In 'those days the borrower was riot
allowed In the stack room to select his
?book from the shelves, Hes , choice must
be made from a printed catalogue, and
a list of the books wanted in order of
preference made out on a slip and hand-
ed to the librarian, who endeavored to
find the book Wanted.
Free access to the .stack room, allow-
ing folks to ?browse around among the
books; a room for children provided
