Woman's effort comes from a realization of what Christ has done for woman. It is said, God does not need us, but has chosen us to carry out His -plan. In 1876 missionary work commenced in Toronto and the West beingundevel- oped, it was foreign work. - The leaders felt their- utter dependence on God's guidance and spent much time in prayer, their -greater vision being -the -world -for_ Christ. The third link was the forma- tion of the Home Missionary Society In 1903. The union of the Montreal Mis- sionary Society, the Foreign Society and the Home Society was in 1914. In 1925 just five members were left on the board and they too, had a vision. They spent all one day in prayer, then rose ready for action. Nine years later, 1934, is celebrated the 70th anniversary in Mon- treal Where the W.M.S. of the Presbyter- ian Church in Canada had its origin. Mrs. Eaton then, in her mind, took those present with `her to the top of the church where one looked out With all who were at the council meeting, at the structure that had been built. They saw the evolution of the "W.M.S.-each de- partment born of a need -each need born by the grotgth and, development of our country. • They saw the different work- ers, each at his own post.
