Surprise Fruit Cake
2 cups sifted cake flour
3 teaspoons baking' powder
14 teaspoon soda ''`
1fi teaspoon powdered cloves
1% teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon. nutmeg
1/z Cup shortening
1 cup sugar
cups,' ,prepared" mincemeat or
2. :t -ounce packages "con-
densed”. (Add 1 cup water;
boil 3 -minutes, cool,)
' 2 eggs, well beaten '
1 oan (11 cups). condensed°
tomato soup
1 ,pup chopped nuts
'Sift together -flour, baking powder,
soda and spices. Cream shortening
and suga-N I add cold mincemeat and
mix thoroughly. ,Blend in eggs. Add
flour mix.tnre alternately with soup;
stir until sinooth. Mix in nuts. Pour
into two greased loaf pans (8"x5"x
21/2") or one 91/2" tube an; bake in
'minutes, or 'unlit' -done. Cool; serve
with hard, sauce or cover with your
favorite white frosting.

of soup, combine three of the favor-
ites in the condensed line. "Blend to-
gether 1 can each of' Condensed
cream of asparagus, mushroom, and
chipl:en soups. Stir in 2 soup -can
measures,,,.,of milk. Heat thoroughly
but do not boil.

MEAT MAGIC: Make the most, ,of
that last bit of cooked chicken by
serving it cream style. You can pre-
pare a 'iuick version 'this way: Add
the diced meat (about 1 cup) to 1
can' of condensed cream of chicken
soup blended with I/a cup milk. A
little chopped, cooked` green pepper
and some chopped, pimiento livens
•the 'flavor. •Pour this over blot but:
tered biscuits,, -tor luscious eating.
Nice with this are buttered–green
beans and jellied cranberry. sauce
for a relish. ,
