Clinton was skid to have been com-
mitted near the Goderich pavilion
on -November 10. The same evi-

against the accused of "causing in
"toxicating• liquor to be taken by
a woman, with intent to stuplfy or
overpower her so • ' as thereby to
enable the accused to have unlaw-
ful carnal knowledge of the swo •
man," contrary to section 210K of
the Criminal (Code. Crown At-
torney H. Glenn Hays, K.Q., prose-
cuted; • Franic Donnelly, K.C., ' was
defence counsel.
Charge Dismissed '
A. charge of indecent assault; oa
the same .woman at ' Goderlch on
November 10, against Joseph I'er-
lotte; I'l,;.C.A.F., Clinton, was dis-
missed. The court found, after a
statement given by the, licensed, Was
admitted, that there vas 110 evi-
dence for committal for, trial and
no evidence., of •improper conduct
against Feribtte.

Reach Settlement
of Damage Action
in County Court.
At a special sitting' of the Huron
county court before Judge T. M.
Costello on Wednesday of last week,
Frederick M. 'Pickett, Londesboro,
Tanner, was plaintiff in. an action
seeking $850 motor damages from
Carl Govier, Wawanosh farmer.
The -action -arose- --out-an ac-
cident on No. t "highway, east of
Holmesviile;-during a "heavy Snow-
storm on February '18, 1950, when.
Pickett pulled his car over to • the
side of the road to wipe .. off .-the
windshield and 'the ,Covier car col-
lided with it, Passeftgers in the
Govier car' were his wife, her par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Loftus Welsh,
and Miss Catherine Welsh of Gode-
rich. • '
By ae settlement reached by coun-
sel, Campbell Grant, K.C., of
Walkerton, for the. plaintiff and
Frank Dot neily, K.C., for the de-
fendant, the plaintiff, Pickett, was
allowed $400 damages and Govier
$100.

Pickett is to' pay' one-third and
