.DON'T NEGLECT TATE.
MUNICIPAL VOTE •
Ratepayers should give a few
Minutes of their time next Tuesday
.to Visit their polling place and
,,,ark their 'municipal .election bal-
lots. Interest in the elections this
year is not 'very keen, but this
should, not be an excuse for stay-
° iing away from the polls.
As to how voters Should Mark
their ballots we have .only. one
recommendation: we hope there
will be a substantial- major-
ity . in favor of the •'increase i n
membership 'of the Public Utilities
ommission from three to. five. If
the vote i5 in favor of the increase
no further vote will. be necessary
for the election',.of the additional
members ; Dr.`"`Gallow, G. a. .Mac -
,
and pThonas Taylor, who
" were named for this purpose at. the
nomination'meeting''last week', will
tape seats on the Commission and
with, Mayor. Mathiesoo and' K.
` Hcp1th son should make a, strong
board.
EDITORIAL NOTES
They don't pull their' punches in
Britain •- lir Scotland; anyway -
when members of the nobility run

An eighteen -year-old miss recent-
ly- was chosen at one of those prize
contests as "Canada's Most Talented
Girl," This is even more ridicu-
lous . than• . choosing-, , among a score
of girls 4 -Canada's greatest beauty."
We 'don't know who Canada's most
talented 'girl is, nor does anybody
else. - The girl who carries the
"phoney" title 1S a singer; but the
most talented girl in. -this or any
other country might not be a singer
at all: She might be a Writer, a
painter, a pianist, or a .combination.
of all the arts..

When John L.Lewis called the
strike of coal miners a little girl
heard a radio coninientato •Ideclare
that- "John L. Lewis shot Santa
'Claus:" . Not .. being "up" on this
kind of ' talk, the child took the
stateinent as stark Muth and with
tears in: her voice called up .a' news-
pnper° office to learn if the shot
had proved fatal. She wasassured
that
Santa was :still living and
would be around as usual °.on
Christrias Eve. Some people say.
they don't believe in Santa Claus,
but there are. •mlliort of little girls
and boys who do, and radio com-
mentators should be Kcareful what
