THOMAS' BEGLEY
'he death of Thomas, Beim'; at
the age of eighty-seven years, occurred
on Thursday,- December 6th, at the
home of his daughter, Mrs, ¥argaret
Sproul, •Lucknaw, with whom, he•lived
the, last five years of his :life Mr.
Begley was a native of West Wawa -
nosh, the soh of James and Martha
Sparling. Begley, pioneer ' settlers. i
Sixty-two years ago he married Sarah,
Smith, who survives, with four"daugh
.ters and four sons: Mrs, Margaret

Brophey funeral home on Monday
afternoon, and on Tuesday the body
was taken to Detroit for burial. ''Mr.
Neil McKinnon and daughter, Miss
Mary McKinnon, of Detroit, relatives
of the deceased, were here for the
funeral service.' -

• William ,Henry Brindley, of Goderich
township,- passed away in Alexandra
Hospital on Friday _last in his sixty-
seventh year.' , For the past seven
,years ,she 'had •bben in failing health,'
and more seriously so the last five days
before his •death. He was born at
• Sheppardton, in Colborne township, a
"son of the Tate Mr:and Mrs. William
Brindley: ,, - He,' operated a,farm in
Goderich. township practically all his
acttye life, In 1902 he was married,
to Miss- Cassie Maud Salisbury, • who
survives, with: ohe son, Allan, of
Detroit. The • funeral was held 'on
Monday afternoon from the Cranston
funeral home, the service being eon
ducted by Rev. Richard • Stewart, of
Knox Presbyterian church: Tlie- pall-
: bearers were Richard Oke, John
Morgan, John Graham, J. McCurchy,
Jack Ramar and David Cantwell,
The interment was in Maitland ceme-
tery. .,

A highly esteemed resident of. Gode-
rich, Mrs. tEmmcrson Evans, passed
away • in A1etxandra Hospital last
Thursday afternoon.- after a long .i.11-
ness.". Mrs. Evans took an active inter-
est in church work and in mercantile
affairs. She was a member . of the
Rebekah Lodge and the members hon-
ored her memory on Friday night by
holding an . impressive service con-
ducted by Mrs. George Baeehler, 'noble
grand, assisted by Mrs. George Mumby,
past anoble grand, and • Mrs. Crask

Formerly Edith Meretta Palmer;
Mrs. Evans was born in Stratford, a
daughter of William. and Rose,.Yeandle
Palmer.' She had been a resident of
Goderich for the past twenty-six years,
for several of 'which she successfully

from many out-of-town pants, . among
them. being those from the ' Rebekah
Lodge and the . Goderich Organ Co.

Parke.
Death of Miss Parke.—The • death
•occurred in Valhalla Nursing Home,
Scarborough, on Friday, December 114;
of a former highly esteemed resident
of this district, in the'person of Cath-
erine Rowland Parke, inher eighty-
, sixth year. Born on the Goshen line,
Stanley township, March 28, 1860, she
was the sixth child of the late Cath-
erine Lindsay and James Parke. `' The
last of a family of seven, she, y was
predeceased by three•, sisters, Miss Mary
Parke,, Mrs. Elliott and 1rs.' J: Clufi,
and three : brothers, George, John- and
the Reverend James Parke. In 1895
the late, :Miss E arke• moved With mem-
bers of the -family. to "Paradise,"' the
farm on the Bayfield' concession road
on the outskirts of the village, where
she resided until some thirty --five years
ago when slie went to New York to
nurse, later to Baltimore, -and-fin H -
to Toronto, where she retired. The
burial service was'• held. in. Trinity
church on , Saturday' afternoon • and
interment was' in the family plot in
Bayfield cemetery. The service was
conducted by the rector, Rev. R. C.
Holmes, and :the pallbearers were Hugh
MacKay, John- Middleton, Ed. Morri-
son, Wm. . Scotchmer, ' Morton Elliott
and Emerson Heard. Miss Parke .is,
survived by four nieces, Mrs. F. Lobb,
Clinton, 'Mrs.:Eric Carre, Toronto, Ethel
Parke, Hugliendon, Alta:, .and Mrs.
Ellis, Vancouver, and •five nephews,
James? John, Frederick and . Leonard
