Councll as to the future management

as the-Pnblic School Board is to have
the inie of the hall for some time, the

H. S. Turner, chairman of the School

Both stressed the overcrowding of the
schools by reason of increased attend-
ance, Mr. Staples placing the increase
at 58 pupils. Mr. Staples gave figures
of date numbers in several of the grades,
which he said were too large for proper
handling.He spoke also of the ac-
celerated Class, intended to reduce the
time. required by brighter pupils to
reaclr the high school entrance class,
and 'explained that this frivolved the
transfer of some pupils from one school
to another at a considerable distance
•from the pupils' homes.

week completing an itinerary of the

are scattered over an. area front Kirk -
ton, on the extrepte southeast boundary
of the county, to Brussels in the 'east
and Dungannon Mid . 51. -Helens in
the north, it,requires a good deal of
time te vover the circuit, with. some.
hours spent at eaelr library.
• The membership of the Association
is still growing, An applieation has
been received from rordwieh, and it
is reported that Clinton has dee'ided
apply for Zenahersihip, although* there
is ea official confirmation of this. One
o±. the' units of the Federation of Agri-'
culture has been making inquiry, .a.nd
there are indicationfrom other
quarters of an interest in the Assoe14-
tion, and it is got unlikely that there
will be several ,applications before the
semi-annual meeting of the Association
to be held at Blyth en October -26th- .

The death of Rey. j. 11.Barnett,
PhD., on Monday morning" removed
a prominent figure in the churc]t life
of Western Ontario, and particularly
of eoderich and the distriet. Dr,
Barnett had been seriously all for the
last two weeks. Slew his retirement
to live in Goderich in 1932, be bud
taken an active interest in the work
of Knox Presbyterian church, and was

and Robert Fleming, of Woodstock,
and John Allan, of St. Thomas. '
Interment took. •place ' in Maitland
cemetery, where the last rites were

Magistrate A. F. Cook in Weekly Court
today Marvin- Platten, Toronto, was
'committed to staud trial -at the next
'court of competent jurisdiction. He
formerly 'elected "trial by- judge and
jury op a charge of theft of a car at

Tier, Louden, a traveller • for the
Ogilvie Flour Mills. This car was
later found ,at I'eris and was involve&
