Indiana, on- Friday, August .17th, at
the age,• of eighty-nine— Ile was tiie
son of Archibald and Ann MacG�illivn;ay,
and was barn in Saugeen towxnship on
June 6th, 1850. He was, the eldest-
' of seven children. He received his
,education at Port Elgin; Sydenham...
High School, Toronto Normal School,
the. Manitoba College, where he re-
ceived the . Governor -General's medal,
Princeton University and ` Princeton
Theological Seminary after . teaching
for a number of •years. '
For some time he serVed as ,a nnis-
sihnairy in Ontario and the Vriited
States. Forty-five yeaThrs-he was
moderator of the Presbytery of De-
troit, Later he was in . charge of
schools for neglected children in the
West,' serving in Oregon, Idaho, Ptah
and Montana. His ministry also took
him to the New England States, Penn-
sylvania, Florida and Nova Scotia.
In all', his *ministry • extended over a
period of fifty-two years.
Through Ms influence, two younger
brothers entered the ministry, Angus
and .Alexander, the latter of ''whom
achieved a great distinction in 1926
when he was elected moderator of the
General Assembly of the Presbyterian
Church of Canada.
On September 1st, 1891, he was
Iunited in marriage to Nellie P, Braden,
who. survives him. ,Also left to mourn
.his passing • ,are a son, Calvin Ray
of Pontiae, Mich., and . a sister, Miss
Isabel: .of Dantlou... _

returned from Sompeta, India, where

adiaii Baptist mission. Her last stay
in the Far East was of eight years'
donation. Miss. 'Clutton returned to
-iris country aboard the Gripsholm with
some 600 missionaries who were coining
home after several years abroad. . She
will be in Canada for a year or so be-
fore returning to India to 'resume her
work. Other guests with Mr. and
Mrs. Horton were Mrs. W. Ruston and
Margaret, of Goderich, . Edith and

The Date Philip Hogan.—The funeral
of °Philip Hogan took place here on
Thursday morning, August -23rd, with
regtiiena' mass sung by Rev. Thos. Ford
of London. 1VIr. Hogan had been ill
for some time, but his death came as
