The crowd was second only to that of
the Civic holiday and certainly was the
largeet on any Labor Dasein years. It

motor trouble on the trip from Toronto
and threatening rain. N'evertheless, it
was a thrilling exhibition, starring

Siebert, once a victim of infantile
paralysis, but a brilliant' performer
despite. her handicap. They were given
a big ovation. The entire company

The swimming entrants, from Port
Albert, 'Sky, 'Harbor, Clinton, St.'
Thomas and the United States Navy,
were eaeh allowed to enter only one
,vent, but it was evident from -the per-

'Sky Harbor that had he been allowed
to enter them all he would have made
a clean-up. A big, powerful fellow,

Regiment, returned via C.N.R. train on
Wednesday afternoon, after spending
eighteen days at Thames ;Valley camp,

camp.
- Extensive training was giverse in
bayonet fighting, 'anti-aircraft and gas
warfare. • The Lewis machine gun was
practised. considerably. During their
Stay at cam P the boys made trips to
Cedar Springs and other neighboring
'centres for part of their training.
• Drills and parades formed part of
the daily routine. The eonnpany was
inepecteci by District 0.0. MacDonald.

called to active service while in train-

Columbia for Many Years

death a , Judge Jehn as Swanson,
native of Gederich, which'occurred in
hospital at 'Vancouver, B.C.: on Sunday
last.

Judge Swanson had but resent's-- re-
tired atter thirty-one years as Senior
judge of the County Coert of Yale,
B.C.. and had gone' to „Vancou•ver to
reside. Ile was seventy-five years of
age. • He was a pioneer member ef the
British •Cohimatia legal profession, 'hav-
'big gone to Vancouver in 1'89Safter_

of pulpits had been ftranged between
the Anglican rectors of •Goderich and
Owen Sound, and Bishop Seeger ime

will come from Owen Sound to take
