nic was ••held Saturday_ afternoon at
Harbor Park, Groderich, in honor of
Private_Rabt. McAllister. son. of Mr.
and Mrs. Mason McAllister, who is on
two weeks' leave from training at
Hamilton. About fifty aunts, uncles
and cousins gathered 'and pleasantly
surprised .him with birthday gifts
previous to his birthday, August 19th.
He was presented with a lovely
Schaefer fountain pen, stationery and
other writing supplies.

,Mr's. Root. Teefeaven's sudden -illness.
In her eighty-nintli year, she was
feelh g . t r- su-al, •snit. on Wednesday
morning 'she fell and struck her head
against the corner of the sewing uia-
chlltle, causing a deep cut, which .bled
profusely. The weak spell she had
taken was a ,heavy stroke coming on,
leaving her semi-paratmd.. At time
of writing her .condition -seemed some-
what better. Her son, .Mr. Norman
Treleaven, 'Toronto, arrived the same
-evening-for a few days.
