The Blyth Record of last week -says:
-We are Ied to understand that Mr.
Jae. Clark, of this village, has entered
an action against Messrs. C. Hamilton,
T. Watson, W. H. Watson and Mrs.
T. Watson, for alleged defamation of
character. The suit has arisen out of
the action taken by the Messrs. Watson

held to investigate the cause of fire
which partially consumed the buildings
of Mr. '1'. Watson in April last, Wheth-

The Clinton NnY1 F'' cr says: At a
recent sitting of the .Oivisiou Court
held here a case of particular interest
to dealers was disposed of among oth-
ers. A parry had gone into a store,
purchased an article, giving in pay.
ment a note which he knew to be
worthless, but which he represented:es
being good, the proprietors of the store
entered an action against the party
pasemg the note, to recover the price
of the goods, but lost the snit, it being
held that es the note was accepted by
them nothing could be recovered. If
this is law it is not justice, but there ie
no alternative but for the dealers to
abide by it and in future g vern the m•
selves accordingly.
