church, asking that the street running
east and west from 'Main to Andrew

time of the bonding of the chuttch. It
app.ears. that after the church was
builteertain of the nienebeis went to
the council and asked that the street
be taken over by the town, and thir
town accepted the offer. Apparently
these Members were not authorized by,
the congregation or the synod to give
away this street. The deputation dee
siied that the council should take the
necessary action to secure the return
of the street to the church, the neces-
sary expenses to be paid by the church.
The council is now considering the.
matter.
. It is the intention of the. congregas
time to remove the sheds, plant treeis
extendthe lawn and otherwise improve
and beautify the church property.

- The Clerk was in receipt of a comm.
unication from the Inspector of a,sy-
lords-regarding the keep of a man
named McWilliams who is confined in
Orillia, asylum. The records state
that this wan was Slat there from
Exeter, but it is believed here that he
was sent to the asylum atter leaving
Exeter. The point in this connection
is that since the last session of the l!g-
isleture a municipality, sending an in-
ane person to an asylum is responsible
for their keep to the extent of 1.0 cents
a day, $30.50 a year. On motion of W,
J. Beeman and Jas. Creech it was de-
cided that the reeve and clerk investi-
gate the matter to find out if said Mc-
William were Sea from Exeter.

WRECK AT WOOD"STOCIC.
Woodstock, Nov. 16. -The Lehigh
Express, Chicago to New York, due
here at 4.10 a. rn., and running about
three-quarters of an bout late, was
ditched within the city limits at the
Beaehville road crossing this morning,
The entire train, consisting of bag-
gage car, two sleeping cars and twe
day coaches, was hurled from the
tracks, and the tee° sleepers were top-
pled over a ten -foot embankment.
One of the sleepers WAS turned on its
side, and the balance of the 'train, ex-
cept the rear coach, Wat) thrown over
into the diteb.
The injured nuinber about twelve,
but there wereno fatalities, a fact that
in almost beyond coinprehension when
the results of the wreck are considered.
A broken rail IS supposed to be the
cause,

Centralia
Mrs. Gus Coughlin of town and a
lady friend of her's were the victims
of a rather bad scare one night last
week. Mr. Coughlin. was ont of town
the night in question and Mei; Cough-
lin had invited her lady friend to keep
her cornpany 411 *Went well until
shortly after th&y had retired when
Mrs. Coughlin Vva startled by sounds
of walking on t outside followed by
the bedroom wurjow being raised and
the intruder end voting to gain ad-
mission, At thi point Mrs. Cough-
lin began to stir hich caused the un-
welcome visitor to ecomealarmed and
he beat a hasty 'etreat. A strong
suspicion rests OL t certain individual
in town and a repetition of his mid-
night escapade will insure hina a free
ride on a two by four which he so de-
servedly rnerits.-Workman are busily
engaged rearranging the interior of
the Dufferin House, which, when
completed, will make it one of the
most commodities and well appointed
hotels in the county. The expenses
to Mr. Moffatt will be considerable hut

church, south of this village was the
ecene on the morning of Wednesdev,
Nov. 21st, at 10 o'clock, of a pleasing
and interesting event, it being th
marriage of Miss Angela, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Coughlin, to Dr.
P. J. MeOtie; a rising young physieian
of Orediton. The ceremony was per-
formed by Rev. rather Forester, in
the presence of a, number of the inter-
ested parties' relatives and friends.
The bride wore a beautiful gown of
cream lace oveo ivory satin and ear -
reed bridal roses. She Was assisted by
her eister, Miss Antoinette, who wore
eream eolienne over yellow and car -
tied a bouquet of chrysanthemums.
The groom wale aided by his brother,
Dr. P. F. McCue of Formosa. The
scene at the ceremony WAS a beautiful
and impressive!, one. At the conclusion
the wedding party repaired to the pa-
latial home of Mr, P. Curtin where a
dainty supperWite served and a recep-
tion held. Dr. and Mrs. McCue left
the saute eveningfor the groont's fors
trier home at Melenctlion, Ont., where
they will spend their honeymoon. The
bride's travelling gowie was of dark

church hereon Sunday last were large-
ly attended and were a success educa-
tionally as well as financially. Rev.
R. L Warner of Alma College. *St.
Thoinaes, preached excellent sermons
on both occasions. The offertory was
large, over $70 being realized. -The
fine weather has enabled the farmers
to be well up with their wOrk and they
