It is said to be confined to Oaten Willis' hotel, and the house is quarantin- ed. In order t� prevent the spread of this dread Icl pot, private citizens will have to assist the authorities of the town in insisting au the removal of all unhealthy matter, as cleanliness is the only sure care for the disease. The machines were tested on the farm of Mr. John Willis, The ground. was in good order, although the crop was very short. There was a pretty keen competition between the machines, there being six single and three combined entered. The attendance of specta- tors Was fait. We the undersigned havlug been requested by the Huron Agricultural and Mechanics, As- sociation. to act as Judges and decide upou the merits of Agricultural Engines, Manufaetured by the Waterous Eugine Company, Brantford, Messrs. W. & T. Haggart, London, Messrs. Whitelaw, Woodstock, beg leave to report that owing to the want of Mechanioal appliances for testing the working of ail the engiues, they have been unable to come to any dioision as to the merits of arty one in partieular, so as to be able to recommend the granting of the Society's diploma, bat urge that a further trial be made under more favorable mroumstances. We may however add that we had a tolerably fair test of the spark arresting qualities of each engine, and found them satisfactory in this respect, aad recommend them as being, in our opinion perfectly safe as threshing engines. {H. .Holltegshead, Signed, M. DELMATE OPERATION. -On Friday of last week a very deligate surgical ()per. atiou was performed ou the person of Mr. Phillips, Sr., of this place, by Dr. Hurlbut, of Brueefiehl, assisted by Dr. Vercoe, of Seaforth, and Dr. Worthing. ton, of Clinton. A tntnor had for some timt e been growing underneath the lef eye, and its growth was so rank as to be crowding the eye -ball out of its place, mid the pain was tnost intense. It Wall decided to remove the eye and take out as much of the tumor as possible. The operation was successfully and very skilfully preformed ou the above natnnd day, and the patient is doing as well as could De expected. ANOMEE HOWE AOCIDENT.--Wes re- gret to learn that Mr. Hugh Love Sr., of Hills Green,met with a very painful accident on Wednesday evening last. It mune that himself and Mr. Charles Troyer were returning home froin eter in a buggy. When nearly opposite the residence of Mr. McEwen, another buggy tried to pass them. Mr. Troyer, who was driving, urged his horse on to preveut this, and during the race his buggy struck againstts steer which was standing On the side -of the road, upset- titig it and throwing the occupants with great force upon the road.
