DON'T FAIL TO READ
THIS.
Perhaps there is, no subject
codling within thee' jurisdiction
of the Local Legislature which
clemands refor:rxi to a greater
degree than the Law Courts in
connection with collection of
debts,. Under thepresent sys-
tem a dispute between two
parties, amounting to say $99
can be settled in the Division
Court at a cost of from $6 to
$10, but if it amounts to $101
it has to be tried in the County
Court. Tho same judge pre-
sides in both instances, but
the jurymen, witnesses, Plain-
tiff and defendant are dragged
to the county town to remain
for days under expense, await-
ing deoision—and in addition
e
the lawy9rs who conduct the
' case are entitled to ' not less
than $20 each and as much
more as they can get. The re-
sult is the case will cost the
unfortunate suitors from $100
to $200.
Will it be believed that Mr.
Bishop actually voted against
We should like to seo Exeter give
150 of a majority for Mr. Jackson, By
a ta.pited effort, it ought to be done, Let
the friends of Economy and Good Go-
vernment show they Gnu do. itWe feel
proud of the magnificent majorities we
have rolled up in previous ointest. We
stand the first village in Canada. Let
us maintain that reputation. Let us
make a grand rai nt t f:' r the 150. We
could point with pride to a record sack
its that. The tvay to d1 it, is to VOTE
FOR JACKSON, ,►nd after the electiot
we can givo three rousing British
cheers, and join iu th,e rejoicing alone
the Iine.
Reformers,. read Air. Ieiereditll's
speech. It has the true ring of reform.
iieforn)era of S"uth Huron, remem-
ber this Mr. Bishop voted against
illations which would have reduced the
expenditure eiglity•five thousand dol-
lars ($85,000). Is that reform ? If
not, than vote against. him. ,Ir. Jack-
fton. will 1,uppori, there motions. Then
VOTE FOR JACKSON.
'WE are iufortned on good authority
that btibery has been practised on Air.
Bishop's behalf in one or twD cony'enir
ent places in this vicinity. This is
really carrying the thing n little too far.
