e New inaornseas.—The new machinery for
the brick yard of Messrs. Blake 42 Co. has
' arrived,. They have also erected astore house,
9 baro and dwelling house.
A DlFFERENci ,-This port has assumed a
e different appearance since„ the banding of the
• dock. Property is adsauctng Ln value, aud if we
only had the protection for our native industry
that we require, every available harbor would
be dotted, frith thriving villages.
Dtsci•ssi::o.—Ever since Mr. Porter spoke
at the Mend, the farmers here have been kept
tipsy discussing proteetiou for produce, and
many who tla.nght we are now enjoying the
blessings of protection, find out that we have
been forced to sell our Frain, to be replaced by
a foreign article, free of duty, which they think
is an undue advaptage f;iA % to our Yaukce

was In:unrested throughout, aud the

existing tarttl arrangements, and the
injearies inflicted thereby on our inalha•
lecturers, farmers,artizana, laborers
and others are begiuniug to be Eller -
mighty understood by the people, who,
in whatever direction their political
redileetions may tend, are not so blind

a party which per'aiets in a trade policy

into the pockets of the Americana.
The financial wiped of ,Affairs awakened
the reople to a knowledge of how the
Government were fulfilling the prom-

been deceived, and .Ere ready to repudi-

present, and spoke for a. short tinge.
The ground untouched by Mr. Porter
was gone over by Mr. Jackson. Both
candidates were loudly applauded.
